The Charismatic Movement

    The fastest growing churches today are Charismatic. The 'movement' is growing rapidly in Central/South America. In Europe, it is the same, as it is in North America. In Australia, 'Hillsong' is a charismatic church, and is among the largest in the country. Is this the trend for the future? Is this a move of God?

    I do think this is the trend. Even in the Catholic church, the ones that are experiencing the most growth are the charasmatic churches.

    Hills Assembly of God, home of Hillsong and Darlene Zschech...

    I bring this out because the Assemblies is a Pentecostal Church with a profound emphasis on the Word of God, (and, of course, Pentecostal Distinctives.)

    Whereas the Charismatic Movement tended to be purely experientially based and only of late started emphasizing the Word of God...

    Unfortunately, the many years where everything was experiential (only) has colored their interpretation of the Word of God, now...

    IMHO:
    The reason some churches are growing in leaps and bounds can be seen in which ones are really Worshipping God Almighty...

    While I lean towards the Newer Hosanna and Hillsong style Praise and Worship...

    Growth is not limited only to those churches...

    No, churches who truly are alive to God Musically tend to grow...

    (Davidic Style Praise & Worship is First and Formost from the Heart.)

    Please note though, without a firm commitment to the Word of God such growth will increase until collapse occurs...

    You must have a Foundation upon which to build and grow... That is Jesus and the Word of God..

    I have a friend that I've just known for about 6 months and he is a charismatic. I think charismatics are fine as long as they value the Word of God and place enough emphasis on it. If people are coming to the Lord through this "movement" I'm for it. I believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit but do not practice them. I'm more of a Christian and Missionary Alliance church kinda of attitude towards spiritual gifts. And I like Modern Worship Music.
