That's a nice looking sign, Sherrie! Is that what the ladies have been working on?

Hey, just poured me a cup of coffee and sat back down and heard an awful comotion outside. One day last week Kelly saw some coyote pups in the field next to the house. This commotion sounded like pups 'hollering'. We got a flashlight and went out to investigate; found three racoons in a tree over in the field just across the fence, fighting. One was young, the other two was old, as soon as I shined a light on them the two older ones came out of the tree and made for the safety of the dark field and the woods beyond. The other stayed put for a while longer, as if he didn't know what to do. I figured he was young, but he could have only been disoriented, the other two were fighting him.

I thought I would share this, it is the first time I ever treed three racoons without a 'coon' dog. :D

If this works here is a vintage sign to hang in the shop. If not then, back to the drawing board. [IMG]

    Brother Dallas---frogman!!!!!

Got a kick out of your story above--the coons!!

Wanted to tell ya'll this one

Yesterday I was over at the church early about 6am turning on lights and air conditioners before Sunday School. Folks assume that when the preacher lives next door to the church that that's one of his jobs--the Sunday morning air condition/lights "turner-on'er!!" And the opposite on Sunday nite--he's the "turner-off-er!"

Anyway, back to the story! I made my way into the worship center where there is a wall full of switches to turn on and five air units to switch and set thermostats(some like it hot---some like it cold--you know what I mean??)

Anyway, I start hearin' this squeakin' noise--like chimney sweeps flyin' up and down your chimney and like Purple Martins flyin' in and around their mounted houses in your yard. Except this was inside the worship center. And I didn't know what it was at first. It was just a squeakin' noise.

Anyway, I'm tryin' to find the source. Sounds like its comin from upstairs. No! It ain't upstairs! Sounds like some birds up in the ceiling attic crawl space--no! It ain't there!

I come on down to floor level and the squeekin' noise is constant and louder now. Sounds like its comin from the speaker system suspended from the ceilin'! Thats it! The sound man left the system on from yesterday's wedding and a tape is draggin and squeekin through the system!! No, that ain't it!!

Get the picture! I'm walkin' around the worship center--7000 square feet---tryin' to pinpoint the squeekin' noise! I walk up toward the pulpit platform--its comin' from the organ--NO! The piano! NO! I walk on floor level toward the communion table there in the center of the floor. The squeekin' noise is constant and louder now!! Then I pinpoint the source--

One of our ladies had brought in a potted plant/flower collection for the day's service--placed it on the communion table(where they're supposed to go in a Southern Baptist church when we aren't worshippin through the Lord's Supper)--and unbeknowin' to her when she set the plant in---there was a bird's nest down toward the middle of the stems and leaves of the plant--that had three baby mockin' birds in it--churpin' for their momma--I carefully brought the plant outside and later on--took it back to the lady who set it back where she had picked it out of her front porch---and here comes momma mockin' bird!!!!!

Thought it was a cute story like yours--we replaced the plant with the churpin' mockin' birds with a collection from Saturday's weddin'--But it makes me wonder what would have transpired had I left the original collection in its place????

My lifelong ambition was to be a Dairy Farmer--as you can tell from all of the John Deere lingo and jarb that I use--along with other farmin' lingo. Then the Lord Jesus called me into preaching ministry--and I had a desire to do that more than being a dairyman--both are honorable professions--but I like preaching and pastoring more---

But the farmin' blood is in me and I gotta do what a farmer's gotta do--get up early--

Some of my best sermon's are written at 4-5 in the mornin'!! My wife thinks I'm crazy! She's a Alabama farm girl--but won't get out of bed till I throw a stick of lited dynamite under it!!

    Your Southern Baptist preachin' buddy,
    Brother David(aka Blackbird)

WOW! We must be the only early birds this morning. Well, I think today is the day Sherrie has her 100 mile garage sale to go to...so she is probably up and out spending money. [IMG]

I am fixin' to get ready to go to the Memorial Service our town has uptown on the square every year. I've been doing that since my dad started taking me when I was a little girl (a very long time ago!)

I wonder what the difference is between 'uptown' and 'downtown'? I guess it depends on which side of town you live on?

Then it's back home to help hubby put together a 10x12 steel storage shed. I have potato salad, baked beans and apple pie made and HE is going to grill the hamburgers so we can eat outside on the picnic table (first time this year).

    Ya'll have a great holiday!

We have so much to be thankful for, our freedom, our homes and families, our lives...

But even in a country as great as ours, there is a price to be paid.

Brave men and women throughout our history have paid the ultimate price so that we may have the freedom that is so much a part of America.

    Remember Memorial Day!

Blackbird, yes I can understand that some of your best sermons are written early in the morning. There is something special about that time of day. I love listening to the birds outside at that time of morning. Last year, the earliest they started singing was 3.30am. So, what was yesterdays sermon about then? just interested.

    Blessings and enjoy your day

Hey! Good Morning all! I see everyone is up and cheerful too.

Oh Gib...nice sign! It will look good on the wall.

Frogman...Oh Toad! You did a fine job of making a picture! Look how happy you are! ;) I once was circled by coons in my Garden. (I love to have vegetable gardens) And I had a little itty bitty dog...so they all ran up my mulberry tree. And they would not come down. They kept going coooooo. They were huge. They were also beautiful. But I could not have them up the tree all evening, so i called and asked what to do. MO conservationist said it was not againt the law to shoot them. UGH! I said I live in the City! They were like yeah, so? Well I di not want ot hurt them, they looked like a really nice family. So I got the hose out, and squirted at them. That did not work. they just cooooo at me somemore. So I got a big bowl of dogfood and set it down by the tree, and they came down and ate and left.

Now the moral of this story is...never plant "CandyCorn" Sweet Corn in your garden. Alway plant it out of the regular garden, and you can plant hot peppers around it and they will never go in for the corn. Oh, and always feed your scraps from the table to the animals outside. They are hungry too. Just ask my skunk family.

HI Sue! No I did that sale Fri. Sat. and some yesterday after it rained. I had enough of it. I will have a yard sale of my own probably later this month.

    HI Adopteddaughter!

    HI Followinghim! No studying today?

Happy Memorial Day to Everyone! Even those, who in other countries, fought in Wars and were in the service. Your contribution to protect others was greatly appreciated.

    God Bless!

I want to point out, so that nobody gets into trouble on the board...

Now that everyone has learned to make pictures...according to Barnabas...the rules say, the images we post must be no bigger than the baptistboard logo up at the top of the page. So try to keep that in mind when you post an image. I do not want anyone to get a scolding from the boss! Because the boss is such a sweet gentleman. And I love you all too.

Good morning everyone! It is a lovely sunny day here in Ontario.

My thanks to everyone for visiting the chapel. I submitted it quite early to-day and hastily. I thought I might be too busy in early morning. I have three drawings to work on.

I love early mornings as well. Always rise about 4:30 for morning devotions and prayer time. Then, I check into the Board. My work computer is right behind me, so I just slide the chair over and get to it. The house is quiet first off and one's mind should be fresh, with yesterday behind and tomorrow beyond...we can live for to-day. At my age, everyday is like the last, so each day becomes more important than the one before.

The Coffee Shop is like an oasis in the desert. We can share experiences without fear. We can sit back and take it all in. We can bring our fears, and always find consolation. Yes, we trust in the Lord as our immediate and ultimate help, and nothing is comparable to that. Still, the Lord has given to us fellow travellers and how precious they are. The gems in the Lord's treasury, and we have full access to that, don't we?

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Well, Good Morning

How are you all today? I am a morning person, too. Do my best thinking about 4am, but by noon, I need a nap! But it's already after 7am, so my best thinking time is running out for the day. No one is going to as any hard questions are they?
