    Constitution Party in Serious Trouble?
    April 28th, 2006

Earlier we mentioned Howard Phillips weighing in against the attempts to disaffiliate the Nevada affiliate of the Constitution Party… and the possibility that Michael Peroutka and others had decided to walk out of the party because of the national committee’s refusal to do so.

Well, now I’m hearing more disturbing rumors that at least one, and possibly several members of the National Committee have resigned from their offices. Also, there are supposedly a few states seriously considering splitting off from the national party.

Most disturbingly, this post from a Constitutionalist discussion group claims that the New York affiliate has already made the decision to break...

By a vote of our membership on April 10th, the Constitution Party of New York disaffiliated from the national Constitution Party effective April 23rd when the national committee failed to disaffiliate Nevada. So we have no standing or interest in making yet another demand of the executive committee about anything.

It sounds like, sadly, a full blown splintering is going on within the party that could render it almost totally ineffective on the national level.

When was it anything other than totally ineffective on the national level?

My guess is that many of the remnant will join the party that is more closely committed to their isolationist, anti-war policies: The Democrats. Hopefully, this is a sign of what is ahead for them as well. [IMG]

I am hopeful that at least some of them will join me in supporting the Libertarian Party.

Joining the Democrats is the same thing as joining the Republicans. It's one party with two socialist branches. The Left socialist branch wants the Big Nanny Government to order people how to spend their money and to run the economy. The Right socialist branch wants Big Daddy government to order people how to live their personal lives and to run the military-industrial complex.

The difference is that most isolationist anti-war folks are in the Democrat Party, not the GOP.

Doesn't matter, Joseph. Both branches of the Demopublican Party are chock full of socialists regardless of whether they call themselves Republicans or Democrats. This is an irrefutable fact as the size and scope of the federal government continues to grow regardless of which group controls the White House and/or the Congress.

If one wants less government and the GOP controlling the White House and the Congress for several years can't even make a start at reducing the size and scope of the federal government, then it clear that such a one is, by and large, wasting his/her vote by voting for GOP nominated candidates for president and the Congress. There are rare exceptions such as Congressman Ron Paul.

Doesn't matter because nothing important will change - not the internationalization of the world nor the transfer of assets from the working people to our owners.

    Hey Bill,

If you feel enslaved by the USA, I know a way you can free yourself. Simply move. Your owners will let you go and not even miss you. :D

Sigh. This is the exact same thing that happened to the Southern Party. A great idea, a good beginning, and then the splitting and fracturing, all under the disgustingly prideful posing of who was more southern than thou.

This is why many southerners (myself included) stay registered as Democrats. The party is a joke, but at least we get to stick it to the national party during presidential elections (all of those Southern Democrats - Dixiecrats - voting for Bush) while at the same time keeping our politics locally Democrat.

Sad to hear that. There really does need to be a real Third Party.

In the 2004 election in Louisiana they finished third beating out the more organized Libertarian party. I could not understand why the CP after the 2004 election was not more organized and agressive in trying to organize a State party here after such a good showing.

    Joseph,

Exactly what is the source of this anger you seemingly possess? Why do all of your posts seem to exhibit this?

These are honest questions, by the way.......

There really needs to be a viable Conservative party. Overall the Constitution party platform was very appealing however their actions were questionable.

The biggest problem I have with the Libertarian party is their stand on illegal drugs.

Any idea as to the source?
