Obama Admin: Cap And Trade Could Cost Families $1,761 A Year

The Obama administration has privately concluded that a cap and trade law would cost American taxpayers up to $200 billion a year, the equivalent of hiking personal income taxes by about 15 percent.

A previously unreleased analysis prepared by the U.S. Department of Treasury says the total in new taxes would be between $100 billion to $200 billion a year. At the upper end of the administration's estimate, the cost per American household would be an extra $1,761 a year.

Well, if the taxes are used to help balance the budget then it is a good thing.

I am suspicious of any story about something "costing" without giving us the other side of the balance sheet.

For example, "alcohol costs . . . ." If you Baptists got your prayers answered and the entire US went on the wagon over night then you would see what a real depression is like. And all because you forgot to ask God to simultaneously provide jobs for the displaced workers. <G>

That's what it is, a tax hike.

    Can't be.

Obama promised no middle class tax increases.

Wonder how the poor will come up with the extra money?

    Don't worry about it. C&T won't pass.

It is instructive that the white House kept this report in the bag until it passed the House , and then it had to be obtained by an FOI request.

Obama is fundamentally dishonest. He doesn't care what or who it costs as long as he gets what he wants.
