    These articles certainly brought memories back to me.

    More Americans were lost in the air war over Europe than in the entire Pacific war.

    The 12,000 or so B-17s were produced in three assembly plants, Boeing in Seattle, Lockheed Vega in LA, and Douglas in Long Beach Ca. Approximately 1 B17 rolled off the assembly line every hour, 24 hours a day at the Long Beach plant. Yes the guys and gals were working at a furious place!

    Behold, the greatest generation...
