I'm curious about what people think will be done with this huge ship (about 17 stories high and 971' feet long) now that is half sunk. Whether they will try to repair and raise it, dismantle it, and how long will it take, years? Would it even be possible to raise it and get it upright again? It appears to be resting on the ground so isn't going to disappear soon.

Hopefully, Obama won't get reelected in 2012. And since he is such a globalist they will turn it into his Presidential Library.

It still has about 500,000 gallons of fuel on board. That would heat my house for a while.

    This isn't #2 diesel . . . or #3. I have not lived with a "pot" stove heater for 50 years.

I'm not trying to be a killjoy, but is this really the time to be making jokes about such things, straight after this incident which left 5 people dead and 15 still missing?

The Skipper should be prosecuted for manslaughter. He was in the wheelhouse.

I believe they will unload the fuel, try to somehow right the ship enough to tow it to a shipyard and then either repair it or else scrap it.

I thought I read where Mythbusters was soliciting ideas on how to re-float the ship.

After 20 cruises, this has hit home. But apparently they will take up to 2 weeks to find the survivors or bodies then try to get the fuel out of the ship. According to MSNBC, there are some at least 10 different kinds of fuel.

Once they get the fuel off, they'll be better able to figure out what to do. But they may have to move quickly because it is getting less stable with each day and if it sinks, there will be even more of a disaster than it has been already.
