Jack Daniels, I am sure all of you have heard of him and a few of you have indulged in the beverage he invented. Do you know how he died?

He died of a toe infection.

How did his toe become infected?

He kicked his big safe injuring and infecting his toe.

Why did he kick the safe?

    Because he forgot the combination.

Wonder if he forgot because of indulging in too much of his famous drink?

Maybe he should be given a Darwin Award.

    uite cowardly.

Jack Daniel was a primitive baptist.

His biographer, Peter Krass, has said your story isn't true, and there is a lot of other myths about the man.

He was either 61, or 64 when he died, depending what newspaper you read. Thats considered a long life, back then. No need to start a thread mocking him, and not giving any links to back it up. Quite cowardly. How do you justify this kind of gossip about a deceased man, with the teachings of Christ and how we are to treat each other ?

He died of blood poisoning, that much is correct. The safe story is an old wive's tale, according to people in the know.

The safe story is the one they will tell you when you tour the brewery. He was known to have a bad temper.

    Whiskey is distilled, not brewed.:tongue3:

If you took the tour, thats cool. I would do it. I see the story everywhere, yet I am the only one on this thread who has actually researched this, and put up what I found.

    No, this thread is gossip.

I've never seen any evidence that Jack Daniel had a drinking problem. My mom sips the stuff all day long, and I've not ever seen her drunk.

But I can't stand the stuff. Horrible. Give me a chilled pilsner any day.

But seriously, can we produce some evidence Jack drank his memory away or is it cool to assign that as blame because we don't like him ?

I don't usually like distilled liquors. But I can imagine you are correct.

I have given my mom several J.D. gift baskets.

Before it was Jack Daniel's, it was called Uncle Jack's Whiskey. When I was a young man I played in Uncle Jack's Band, from central Massachusetts, and we had permission to use their logo's in ours. We were a very popular bar band and we owe a lot of that to them leasing their trademarks to us. While looking into this, we learned a thing or two about the man.

I guess the Jack Daniels organization and the biographer are at odds. Personally I do not care either way.

Had he cleaned the wound with some of his beverage, I'm sure he would have been fine. ;)

Jack was a PB huh? Not that I indulge nowadays, but his whiskey with the black label coupled with my inability to control my desires left me commode huging drunk. What was dangerous? My inability to exercise self control or it's ability to remove my self control?
