I like Bush because he did what needed to be done in Iraq and Afghanistan. I liked him more because he didn't back down from all the political pressure. I haven't changed my mind just because it's not very popular in some circles to have been supportive of his actions. The only thing I regret is that he didn't seize the opportunity he had with a Republican Congress and vice versa. They all got a bit too busy trying to find "common ground" with the Democrats of which there is very little. He's not as conservative as I'd like but he was a thousand times better on all fronts than Obama will ever be on any one front.

Ron Paul makes a few good points now and then when he addresses limited and reduced federal government but he blows it all when he stands against our war on terrorism and thinks the answer is a fortress mentality of only guarding the border. Yes, we need to guard the boarder but, more importantly, we just need to enforce the law against illegal immigration and deny all the benefits of it so that the incentive is reduced. No school, no driver's license, no medical care, no aid, no automatic citizenship for babies, etc. On the world scene we need an aggressive national defense policy that takes the fight to the enemy whenever he is. We need to mean what we say, do it, and stop apologizing for it. We need wholehearted efforts that are fully supported and fully executed. We need to stop trashing ourselves in the face of the world. Ron Paul doesn't understand that.

Obama hardly merits mention. He doesn't understand much of anything except the road map to a socialist empire and, I think, an ultimate goal of applying what he learned in his black liberation theology class at Wright's church and during his days of nasty Chicago community strong arm tactics. Hopefully, he'll be a one term President whose greatest accomplishment was to scare the nation away from the path we're on.

I do realize that ken has bounced around a bit with his support of political candiates but I do see a consistancy with his view on war that would lead to a reasonable explanation of that.

Although he has shown clearly he has no clue who it is that is swallowing what from whom but seems to simply be spewing infowars talking points without giving any real consideration to the views that are given in opposition to his own.

Typical neo-lib/neo-con worldview. I'll have nothing to do with it.

You've changed your mind several times before. It won't be a surprise if you switch political parties again soon.

But, if you don't and Ron Paul gets his fortress mentality turned into a walled reality, you may be among those that gets to see the enemy fly right over it into your own "secure" home town while you wish our military could have done something about it before they got here.

    1) I will very much surprised if such happened.

    2) That would be fine with me. Of course, I have a pro-United States worldview. I encourage everyone reading this to adopt the same.

While we cannot (and should not) police the world, imposing our will on other sovereign nations; America saw what isolationism bought us back in the First World War. We do have interests that extend beyond our borders. The key is balance and understanding limitations. If President Bush thought he could establish a Jeffersonian democracy in Iraq, he was foolhardy. There was a reason his dad did not proceed into Baghdad.

I am opposed to isolationism. I am also opposed to neo-lib/neo-con foreign adventurism.

I think the reason had to do with the reaction to the destruction of the enemy on the "Road to Basra"! Maybe if we'd finished the job that time we wouldn't have needed to come again after playing games with them for ten long years. Let's hope this time is the last time and what we've helped accomplish well hold up.

Play with the words if you like but Ron Paul's "pro-United States worldview" - your most recent view - has some serious faults that would be fatal to America. That's why he's not the right choice.

It's foreign adventurism of people like Barack Obama and George W. Bush that could be fatal to the United States. I think that is what the elitists want.

Ken, old buddy, old pal. You are seriously going off the ranch. No American (other than the rare traitor) wants to see the end of our nation. No Republican. No Democrat. No Libertarian. No "Elitist" (whatever that means). People have differing views of how to make this a better place for our kids and grandkids, but only extremists set up a bunker, us-vs.-them mentality, and accuse others (nebulous or real) of wanting the destroy the nation. The polarization of political discourse in this country has badly degenerated, with no middle ground. Accusations of Marxist, Communist, Elitist, Reactionary, etc. etc. do nothing to remedy the sad state of political dialog we find today.

I disagree. There are people, and corporations, that consider themselves to be citizens of the world, not of the country in which they reside.

There is no room for middle ground when such extreme and unconstitutional ideologies are being pushed. Obama said he wanted to make fundamental changes in this country. He meant every word and he wants to skirt the constitution to get it done.

He fills his cabinet with admitted Marxists and he himself want to redistribute wealth by his own admission. There is no level or scenario where this is acceptable. It just flat out needs to be defeated completely. People want to avoid labels so it makes it harder to identify them and their agenda. Labels describe a particular view. Liberals work hard to remain in the shadows because at face and full value they would be rejected. But we will never let this be.

Corporations are run by people, and consider nothing outside the decisions of their boards and management. While it is true that many folks who run those firms place their own self interest above those of the nation, I truly don't believe that the boards of directors of multinationals want to see the demise of the US. This is where the greed factor sets in, and why it is dangerous for corporate interest to buy their way to control the levers of power, and to control the mass media. But legitimate concerns are not a reason to jump to extreme viewpoints. That is your right, but I just wanted to throw you a bit of balance to what I have seen lately.

    Best to you always,
    MP

Like I say, extremists always wave their hands to point themselves out. Thus they will always be considered fringe nut cases.

It is not extreme to hold to the constitution and the free market. It is extreme to change that.

There's no middle ground when you're drowning MP. That's where we are right now. We as a free nation are in the middle of a cold dark lake drowning while the "elite" pick our pockets clean.

In other words, the "elite" have a feeding frenzy going on and we're the main course. All the other nations either fell in line already or fell into starvation, deprevation, occupation and "democratic" overhaul.

Look at it another way . . . we're being sheared like sheep. You know what sheep do when they're being sheared? They go to sleep. Yep. There's nothing wrong with the political discourse of today MP you just took a little snooze while the whole false left vs right paradigm took a bad beating.

You're just having a little difficulty adjusting now that's all.

It'll all become much clearer when you fully recover your senses. Promise!

Yeah, Ken's not going by the script. CUT!

Ken! You know better than to interupt the grownups while they seek to discuss the important daily issues within the false left vs right paradigm!

What have you got to say for yourself?
