There is no where in the Bible that teaches us that there is more for us to do. That would be adding to salvation, trying to get to heaven by our own works.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast (Eph.2:8,9).

When Jesus died on the cross, bearing the sins of the entire world, just before he gasped his last breath, it is recorded in John 19:30 that he said: "It is finished!" The work of salvation at that point was finished. There was nothing more to do. There is nothing more that you or I can do. We cannot add our baptism to what Christ did. We must simply accept what He did by faith. Put your faith in Him alone and He will save you; not baptism, not speaking in tongues, not anything, but Christ alone.

Baptism is important. But it is something a Christian does. It happens after one is saved, as a step of obedience in the Christian faith. It is never part of salvation. I was not baptized until two years after I was saved, but I was still saved before I was baptized.
