Interesting story I had not heard of before.

“The sharecroppers that had gathered in Elaine had a simple goal: to secure a share in the profits gained from their work. But the series of injustices the events of that night unleashed would - through several years of tenacious effort - end up before the nation’s highest court and show that the longstanding tradition of declaring African-Americans guilty absent constitutional guarantees would no longer go unchallenged.”

I've not heard of it before either (and it is interesting).

When I moved to SC last year I learned of the Hamburg massacre (white Democrats killing people in a majority black Republican county to sway the voting). This was the first of several civil attacks (Hamburg no longer exists but the site was about 2 miles from my home).

History is interesting. Are you near Arkansas or just stumbled across the article?

I moved to Arkansas from Texas in 1978 after graduating from college.

Someone posted a link to this article on my Twitter timeline and it caught my attention this afternoon.
