    God is everlastingly separate from sinners; he is of purer eyes than to behold iniquity.

    1. This is impressively taught to Adam and the patriarchs.

    As long as Adam walked holily, Go dwelt in him, and walked in him, and communed with him;

    but when Adam fell, 'God drove the man out of paradise; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden, cherubim and a flaming sword, which turned every way to keep the way of the tree of life.'

    This flaming sword between the cherubim was a magnificent emblem of God – the just and sin-hating God.

    In the bush, he appeared to Moses as a consuming fire – in the temple, he appeared between the cherubim in the milder glory of the Shecinah;

    but here he appeared between the cherubim as a sword – a just and sin-hating God.

    And I beseech you to remark, that this flaming sword turned every way to keep the way of the tree of life.

    If it had not turned every way – if it had left some foot-path unglared across – then Adam might have stolen in by that foot-path, and made his own way to the tree of life.

    But no; whatever avenue he tried – however secret, however narrow, however steep and difficult – however silently he crept along – still this flaming meteor met him and it seemed to say, 'How can man be just with God? by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh living be justified.'

    Well might Adam sit down, wearied with the vain search for a pathway into life; for man by nature has no way to the Father."

    This scenario is present now, with lost souls seeking God in their flesh, thinking they can pray, believe, desire, 'guess' that they are giving consent to 'have flaith' in a True Historical Legend, with Jesus' Death, Burial, and Resurrection.

    Their sin-guilt doom remains.

    Their Spiritual REALITY of their personal sin Against a Trice-Holy God must be dealt with, Spiritually, and Repentance Granted.

    Then, confession is made.

    Not after 'picking' a Tree of Life, like an apple, or repeating a prayer or 'answering' an alter call, without Turning or Burning.

    It is Forever Blocked by Flaming Swords.

    In my case, The Flaming Sword would be said to prohibit 'free=willism', or 'easy-believism', while on your side, if we say, "Garden of Eden", then this man on the cross was A,) a sinner, B.) Convicted by The Word, C.) Granted Repentance, and D. Faith.

    Both of our points, if they can be made this way, are saying that "Jesus is The Savior" and the lost sinner must Come to Salvation, by Him.

    Genesis 2 is not metaphor, so God literally created the Garden of Eden. When Jesus said, "It is finished", on the Cross that was not metaphor. When Jesus told the thief, he was going to Paradise, that is where the thief went. Angels are literal beings. The Atonement on the Cross opened the entrance to Paradise literally. The soul has to leave this body and enter a permanent one that is incorruptible to enjoy the physical aspects of Paradise. There is no difference between the physical and spiritual to the Lord. Sin and this corruptible body prevent us more than the Angel with the flaming sword did.

    I thought I could describe how The Atonement of Jesus Does NOTHING that could be associated with "The Garden of Eden"; wherein "everyone has a chance" as if they are put into the same position as Adam.

    A sinner's "position" is as a Helpless sinner.

    Either their Atonement was Paid for them, personally, and God Draws them to Himself, or there is no other hope for the lost soul.
