........This Friday, March 9, at 4:00pm, Vaclav Klaus, the president of the Czech Republic, will address the topic of contemporary environmental issues facing Europe and the world, such as global warming at the Cato forum "Facing a Challenge of the Current Era: Environmentalism." Recently, Klaus asserted that "Global warming is a false myth and every serious person and scientist says so. It is not fair to refer to the U.N. panel. IPCC is not a scientific institution: it's a political body, a sort of non-government organization of green flavor. It's neither a forum of neutral scientists nor a balanced group of scientists. These people are politicized scientists who arrive there with a one-sided opinion and a one-sided assignment." Klaus also said, "other top-level politicians" do not express their global warming doubts because "a whip of political correctness strangles [their] voice.".............

Now I suppose you're claiming that the President of the Czech Republic is a well-known environmental scientist? Why can't we let the scientists do science rather than politicizing everything? I'm an engineer with 30 years experience. I design VoIP networks. Can you or the President of the Czech Republic do that? Then why do you think you can research global warming?

It seems more and more responsible scientists are coming forth decrying this insidious movement.

Global warming has little to do with science and is more political than anything else.

Do you have any proof of that statement? Did the US really land on the moon or was it a hoax?

Since it has become such a prominent issue as well as divisive issue that says a great deal. For every scientist that says it is there can be found a scientist that says it isnt. Common sense and history speaks against it more than anything.

Though I have not bought into the concept of global warming, I have completely dismissed most of those who claim it's a total hoax - for example, the self-described "expert" Rush Limbaugh.

You have referenced the CATO Institute. Do you know who funds them?

    An honest question,

Don't misrepresent him. He's never claimed to be an expert, but cites scientists & weatherpersons that have actual credentials, like in the article I'll link to. He does claim, rightly so, to be an expert in media spin.

Global Warming may be happening, but its cause is where the great deception is occuring.

Statistics show that the earth has warmed something like .06c over the past 100 years. But I know statistics can be used to prove anything.

Something beyond doubt is on this page: http://www.co2science.org/scripts/CO2ScienceB2C/articles/V9/N45/C2.jsp

After the facts it gives this conclusion:

"What it means Contrary to all the horror stories one hears about global warming-induced mass wastage of the Antarctic ice sheet leading to rising sea levels that gobble up coastal lowlands worldwide, the most recent decade of pertinent real-world data suggest that forces leading to just the opposite effect are apparently prevailing, even in the face of what climate alarmists typically describe as the greatest warming of the world in the past two millennia or more."

This page has some good mythbusting info as well:
    http://seoblackhat.com/2007/01/18/globalwarming-awareness2007/

There is a lot of deception in the global warming hype and there are more and more speaking out against it... finally. :)

The"man made global warming" " we are all gonna die" debacle will go down in history as quite an embarrasment. Kind of like the "ice age is coming" .

When I was in high school (23 years ago) the "ice age is coming" story was popular. Haven't heard it mentioned for a while. When asked about it Warmingists say things like "Ah, but we know more now than we did then..." I can just imagine the scene in 23 years from now if the story changes again, today's Warmingists will convert back to Coolingists and use the same line "Ah, but we know more now than we did then..."

Pete this is because science is relatively unreliable and so the computer models are unreliable in trying to predict soemthing that has never been seen before. Global warming is all specualtion based on unreliable science but used as a tool to further the politcal agneda of socialism and to destroy capitalism. It is politcal and not very scientific. Socialists become scietnists, teachers, reporters, government agents like the CIA and FBI, politicians and Presidents because they have an agenda to effect unseen change into a capitalist society that they dispise. They get energized on human sentiment that is void of scripture, biblical precepts, consideration of God, and Holy Ghost conviction. Christians should not walk in doubleminded lives that hold to a secular life and a Christian walk. Any organization that is devoid of God is godless.

I believe in Gloabal warming. Shoot, it is all the way up to 9 degrees today. Without GW, it would probally be about 20 below. And thank goodness we only have about 115 inches of snow. Sure glad we no longer get to that 200 inch mark:praying:

Part of what it says is that Big Oil can afford to buy a few scientists, much as Big Tobbacco bought doctors to say that tar and nicotine were not necessarily bad for you.

But are they equals in the field of climatology?

Well, we know that there are ice ages and interglaciations that cycle. We also know that some gases act as greenhouse gases. I don't see that common sense dictates that greenhouse gases could not accumulate in the atmosphere to such an extent that the mean temperature of the earth is affected.

Well a flip flopper. You are trying to change your stance and pretend you aren't. John Kerry comes to mind.

And those who rely on research grants can be pursuaded to say what ever collects a paycheck as well. Who are thses people that buy scientists. Who are these scientists that are being bought. And what evidence is there that they are being bought off.

Is it your position that no one in climatology has a dissenting opinion?

And I never said such a thing. In fact I would be willing to concede to that. But it was that way off and on throughout history. Nothing new is happening now.

I could see that global temperatures are changing, though the actual figure seems to vary.

What I do not accept is that "we" are doing it.

Certainly dumb or irresponsible actions on a local scale can affect the local weather (not climate), but the global climate is so much more complex and so big, I do not believe it is my fault. :)

What's dumb (ignorant) is for taxpayers in Oklahoma to pay for rebuilding a below sea level city in LA and to subsidize flood insurance for millionare vacation houses on the Outer Banks.
