The sensationalism that he accuses "liberal" churches of is exactly what he demonstrates here.

"Hey come to my church, our pastor's a real nut who destroys TVs and makes babies cry. It's the coolest show around right now!"

This is no different than any other church that touts music or a certain pastor as their draw. The draw SHOULD be the Word, not anything else.

    Mcdirector,

If you do, tell him you're an OB/GYN who's doing a TV show about gay muppets, and offer him a copy of the Message, and some CCM CD's too!

And then run like heck. I hear baseball bats hurt.

No contemporary music allowed, but however feel free to bring a tv to smash. Makes perfect sense.

    (begins victory dance)

And yet ANOTHER thread successfully diverted by RBell from "debate" to "clean humor."

My work here is done...at least until Mr. Sanderson responds...

YIKES!! I just listened to that sermon. This guy is a few french fries short of a happy meal.

I wonder how many in his congregation took him up on the four week challenge he talked about.

All I know is if I was one of the parents of the kid who he scared to death, I would've gotten up and walked out right then.

I'm sorry, but the pulpit is no place for theatrics like that.

As they say on another forum I hang out at, "what a whack job!"

    Ephesians 4:25

"Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. 26, Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27, and do not give the devil an opportunity. 29, Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. 30, Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31, Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32, Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you."

Agreed on all counts. The level of violence and anger displayed by destroying a TV in that manner is not what I want to see out of any Christian, much less a pastor.

Everyone knows Burt is evil. Look at this!
    http://www.snopes.com/rumors/images/bert2.jpg

    [Sorry, oversized image.]

This even appeared in a collage poster used by radical islamics! See http://www.snopes.com/rumors/images/bert2.jpg

As for the TV destroyed, the opening poster is not committed. He should not worry about a little 27" TV. Instead, go for a 60" HD Plasma unit costing about $5000 or so. Then we will know he is serious!

The sermon ends with me demolishing a 27" television with a baseball bat.

Cheap theatrics from a low-budget "preacher."

    I don't think so Aaron.
Most of it was joking around about Burt and Ernie, not expressing hatred for Steve Sanderson.
I found his behavior disheartening, disappointing, and a few other adjectives, but personal hatred for the man is not among them, so please don't include me in that idea.

First he says the actors behind Bert and Ernie are gay

    ROFL!

Did someone inform Frank Oz and the late Jim Henson (the voices/puppeteers of Bert and Ernie, respectively) that they were gay? I'm sure it would come as a great surprise.

Bert and Ernie are about as gay as Felix and Oscar - the kind of mismatched buddies they are modelled after.

    *snort*

Mere minutes after I post that Bert and Ernie are modeled after the Odd Couple, I hear Spamderson say that Felix and Oscar promoted an alternative lifestyle because they were two men who lived together.

They're not gay, of course. It's just like being gay.

I'm in trouble. I live with three other men! [IMG]
