    Many parables in the Bible are not historic accounts. The whole point of the parable is to hear the lesson - rather than searching the countryside to find the people mentioned. In the case of the dead offering prayers to the dead - in Luke 16... and Abraham in charge of all dead saints -.... clearly parable.
