Posting this here not to discuss the theological implications of PCD, but simply that they believe heresy.

Yes, their songs teach heresy. "You are God alone" is actually a denial of the Trinity.

    'You Are God Alone'....

PCD happen to be one of my favorite song groups and I continually listen to their ministry via CD's, etc. They have ministered to and helped me thru many a crisis moment. I guess I'm seeking to understand what your concerns are all about.

I looked up the song in question to read it since I'm not very familiar PCD. Reason being we have a hard time getting the christian radio station here because they apparently aren't close enough and we have some kind of dead spot in horse cave. So I don't really bother very often trying to get them.

I see no denial of the Trinity here, what I do see is a declaration that only God is God, He is not a made up man made god, but the one true God.

I thought their legacy was cheesy music...just kidding, but really I personally don't like their style even though they've encouraged many of my friends. :)

As for the "denial of the Trinity" that is simply wrongheaded. We can speak of God in the singular while affirming the Triparite nature of the Godhead. Being that, Trinitarianly speaking, the expression of the unity of the three Persons of the one Godhead. When we speak of worshipping God we are in fact speaking of the Godhead.

Besides the song is speaking more of the exclusivity of God (as understood from the orthodox Christian conception of the Trinity) over all other mortal expressions. It is a great song to that effect. It isn't denying the three persons of the Trinity. You are over-reaching.

The point of the thread is not to diagnose one song by PCD, but to state unequivocally that PCD believes and teaches heresy. Regardless of what their songs state, they deny the Trinity, and teach a works based salvation.

Still, being unfamiliar, I'd like to know more about just what they do teach, I'd like to see proofs. Not arguing, but how can I know or discuss if I have no idea what you mean.
I think I may have heard something like this in the past, not sure. If they deny the Trinity, are they oness or something?

    Oneness pentacostals

The fact is they are oneness pentacostals and as such deny the Trinity and do believe in a works based faith. if they didn't believe or teach this they would not be oneness pentacostals. It really doesn't matter if their music has touched you, it is still heresy.

    Ya'll are funny.

So we aren't to enjoy music written by those heretical Oneness Pentecostals, but it's okay to sing Christmas songs that were written by heretical Catholics like say: Silent Night (follow the linky: http://www.fisheaters.com/hymns.html#silentnight )

It doesn't really matter if singing Silent Night at Christmas is a tradition in your church, it is still heresy.

I'm athinkin' that we have better things to worry about than whether or not a song writer holds the exact same view of the Trinity than we do. This is straining at gnats folks.

I agree, as christians we are to stay away from things like that, heresy, even if it has 'touched' us. We are not to expose ourselves to heresy. And if they are oness, then they teach heresy.

Sorry MK, but the Trinity is a major doctrine of the christian faith, the exact same view is necessary for christianity, oness deny the God of the bible, the God of christianity. It makes a big difference.

Might as well throw out the redback hymnal, too. It is put out by the CoG, pentecostals all. I mean, if you are going to toss something because of one, might as well toss 'em all...

Some do, most don't, but many claim if you don't speak in tongues you are not saved... at least around here. Pathway Press is owned and operated by the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee, and they publish the redback.

We don't use that hymnal so I don't know. I do know around here you'd have to search pretty hard to find a CoG or pentecostal who denys the Trinity.
