    May will be here soon.
In the month of May we celebrate Armed Forces Day (Sat 16 May)
and we Honor those who have given their life for Freedom on
Memorial Day ( Mon 25 May)

    So here is my question:
Is it proper to incorporate these holidays in (as well as Veterans Day)
    our church Sunday services?

ARMED FORCES DAY - Sat 16 May
............... Honors those who are currently serving in the military - Active Duty & AGR

    MEMORIAL DAY - Mon - 25 May
............... A Somber day to remember those who gave their life while serving in the military

VETERANS DAY - Wed 11 Nov
............... Honors those who have honorably served in the past. Active Duty & AGR

I never liked it, but I would not say it is improper. The church is a community of believers, so I would leave it to them to decide.

Seems problematic in the worship of the Prince of Prince. Not a practice that I have any interest in making a fuss about, though. Just tolerate it and move on.

Interesting answer you gave, Ken - as the reason our militarty ,dept was changed from "Dep of War" to Dept of Defense" -
which indicates - not offensive war, but rather a defensive position. Therefore, our purpose in war is to achieve peace.

I'll add that the reason I never liked it was because we were called to stand or come up to the front. I have absolutely no issue with churches recognizing their veterans, fireman, law enforcement, ect. because they do sacrifice for the community.

I just felt uncomfortable being recognized for my service, partly because I do not see my service as a sacrifice but an experience through which I gained much to make me the person I am today.
