Do you understand John, that openly deceiving someone, or tricking them with money into listening, is not how the Holy Spirit operates?

One day at work, read that a very poor guy working part time for a hair over minimum because that was all I could find after months of looking, very hard times, I spotted a 20 under a clothing rack, EXCITED PLUS - till I turned it over. As a believer I appreciated the message and someone's attempt to witness, but REALLY?

    So let's review:

Evan6589 asks if other people use WOTM technique. The vast majority of people say they don't use it. Evan6589 admits it doesn't work but says it's the best method for evangelizing and he's going to keep using it.

Evan6589 asks for opinions about the most realistic money tract. The vast majority of people say they don't like the money tracts, don't use them, say they are deceptive, and request that Evan please stop using them. Evan says he's going to keep using them.

    Is that about it?

I am not a fan of tracts in general, but this observation hits the nail on the head in terms of "money tracts." They use deception to "spread the Word."

I think plain_n_simple said it best:
You are now going to give truth after you open up with a lie?

Evan, please allow me to ask PnS's question a different way: According to Proverbs 6:17, God hates a lying tongue. So is it okay to do something God hates in order to give the Gospel to someone?

ITL - pretty close summarization. Evan didn't say WOTM doesn't work; he said it doesn't always work. Unless I missed something somewhere.

    -----

Evan - it was pointed out to me, and I feel it necessary to point out to you: Have you really looked over those materials from the link you posted for the Ronald Reagen money tract? I mean seriously, they makes Chick Tracts look pretty good....

I'm not sure that site is a suitable place to get any kind of materials from; you should probably consider deleting the link, if you still can.

I believe he has said he's personally never seen any results using WOTM, but that God could use it to bring the elect to Christ.

I will not use tracts that look like money. I am not trying to fool people into reading something.

I recall some fundies (when I was an IFB pastor) telling me how they would leave 'money tracts' instead of a tip at restaurants. Their excuse was 'What the tract said was more important than a financial tip'. No wonder I never felt a part of that movement. :)

Its my wife's birthday and I am paying for dinner tonight. I am not going to bring a money tract this time but another type of tract, perhaps a gospel of John. I use the money tracts sometimes and other tracts as well.

Most IFB do not associate nor use WOTM. They use Chick Cartoon Tracts or other IFB based tracts.

Which is fine with me. WOTM is not the Heaven endorsed version of Gospel presentation.

Perhaps. They also deceitfully use money tracts and bare a bad testimony and excuse as to not leave a financial tip to a person who has waited upon them. Money tracts are not ordained of God, nor is it a sin to decide to not use them or any type of tract for that matter.

Evangelist6589, you claim to be called to preach. You say "The best way is to use the Law to convict the consciences of sinners". Okay. Are you aware that you might be breaking one?

I personally choose NOT to use any tracts in sharing the message of the Gospel.
