Umm, well, I guess that's ok if you like propaganda and being condescended to. I prefer art produced by people who don't have quite such an obvious moral superiority complex. </font>
That's the thing, Paul Haggis, (writer/director), does not come accross as having a moral superiority complex, IMO. Part of the story is based on his own life, (the car jacking scene), and the emotions he went through. His intent was not to point out the faults of everyone else. The story itself goes beyond racism. It is more of a story of the human condition, and how we act and react to each other. You don't have to like it or watch it, but I'm sure that the millions of people who did watch it, and think it thought provoking, are not being snowed over by a propagandist. To each his own.

What does that have to do with it?

I prefer books in general, I think that To Kill a Mockingbird and Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry covered this type of material much better.
    </font>
Race has some to do with it.

I saw the old To Kill a Mockingbird movie and thought it was good.

Does that matter to you, and if so, why? Is the implication that if a black person were to post that they would automatically be in favor of a movie that seems to be in a contest to see how many "F" words they can speak in about 2 hours?

    Joseph Botwinick
    </font>
The implications are not what you stated. The movie does not just speak to black issues, but also Asian issues, hispanic issues, white issues, and familial issues.

I am not one prone to or care for cursing.

If you have issues with the curse words, by all means, stay home.

As someone who lived in LA for ten years, I say it was a fantastic film, F's and all. See beyond its mirror of sin and the message is clear, it promotes Christian love.

C'mon Joseph, should they really make a movie where sinners don't cuss; get real.

A christian is supposed to be in the world and not of the world. We are commanded to come out from amongst them, not take pleasure in their filth!

All I asked is what people thought of this movie.

If you didn't see it, start another thread!!!

Don't have to see it, Saggy. The critics have given their reports, and one can find the scripts for it online.

The fact that you asked what people thought of it, did not say specifically, 'Did you see it? If so, what's your opinion of it?' leaves this thread open to those who have heard from critics or read the scripts.

I did not read the scripts, I scanned them with my computer and it put asterisks over each curseword. The fact that it has so much filth in it gives me the right to speak against it.

This certainly does explain a lot... ;)

I say it was a fantastic film, F's and all.
No real surprise there. :D

See beyond its mirror of sin and the message is clear, it promotes Christian love.
The "F" word does not promote Christian love.

C'mon Joseph, should they really make a movie where sinners don't cuss; get real.
Hollywood can make any movie they want. It is a free nation we live in. I can choose to not see it...and not encourage Christians to see it. That is also part of that freedom. If Christians wish to pollute their minds with the garbage of the world, that is their business and is between them and God. I am quite real, but thanks for your concern.

We are also commanded to seperate ourselves from evil, and not take part in it. You should know better, Saggy.

God's Word does tell us to 'Go ye' that is true, but ya forgot to finish that sentence. In it there is a part that says 'and preach the gospel.' How can one preach the gospel while partaking of the cup of the devil?

Sometimes what is evil and what is thought to be evil are two different things, Joseph.

In fact, Jesus sat and dined with publicans and sinners and was thought to be evil.

I don't believe he engaged in their sin, nor did he celebrate it. Your argument is flawed, unless you think the F word is fine and dandy?

did Jesus sit with sinners and let them swear, or did he sit and swear with them?

When Jesus sat with sinners, I am sure it was not to laugh at their jokes, nor to condone or participate in their sinful desires.

Jesus would not permit devils to speak except to answer His questions.

No, I do not believe He would permit their cursing.

I don't see then how they could desire to eat with him if he kept telling them to shut up

He could stop them from using swear words just knowing He was there.

Many a person who I know to be unsaved and curse like a sailor have held their tongue around me.

Some of my own family members will not curse around me, although I know they curse.

Is it out of respect for what I stand for? or maybe the Holy Spirit keeping them from cursing?

So why can't we through the holy spirit stop someone from watching for example "The Boondocks" ? Can are presence nowadays actually cause that to happen-especially across long distances? I wish I had that kind of spiritual power. Yeah, I know a lot of people I want to keep in check.

Many of the self-righteous sinners of his day didn't like sitting with him. As a matter of fact, they sought to have him cruxified.

Jesus did sit with sinners. He did not, however, participate in their sin or celebrate it. As a matter of fact, he told them to go and sin no more.
