We do not need to be looking for Presidents and governments to make dreams come true.

So, Obama makes dreams come true. yeah, right. And these children are being taught to look to him for these dream miracles.

I wish my daughter had this assignment. I'm quite sure she would have a ball with it.

Are we purposefully ignoring the word 'if" in the assignment?

Not ignoring it just recognizing it makes no difference. We do not need to dream, hypothetically or otherwise, about what governments and Presidents can fulfill. Government is not our dream maker and to do such serves no purpose as well as indoctrinates children into a mindset that we need to look to government to supply our dreams and needs.

Just don't see any of that implied in the assignment. There is certainly no implication that Obama is a god.

Why in the world would a man like you send your child to the god-less commie-lovin' public schools ?

Then again, I am not looking to attack every thing involving Pres Obama in a positive light.

    Oh please, donnA.

This is just silly. A waste of time. To be accused of having another God ? You are crazy.

If this is such a problem, yank the kids out of public school. I stand by what I said. If my daughter had this assignment, it would be hard for me to wait for her to finish. I'm sure it would be hilarious.

If you think about it, you've just given your daughter her topic to fulfill the assignment. She can take the position that she doesn't look to government to meet her dreams and needs.

We are, more often than not. My Irish makes me run hot, I agree. But we agree on most issues, I believe.

    Good idea,

"My dream is that President Obama would not try to micromanage my life. That he would allow me go into business without being plagued by unreasonable government regulations...'

They were given this assignment to finish immediately. At the age of 7 years we have not covered this with them at home yet. This is much to young to be considering.

See, for a 7 year old I would love an assignment like this. She could come home and we could talk about the concerns you have and how our dreams should not be based on what President Obama could do, but a chance to pray and ask God to do what He knows is best.

I certainly would not teach her to disrespect classroom authority. (No Rev, I am not saying you did, just making a general statement.)
