    Hey Sheila,

I'll mail number one today - there are eight all together - I'll try to send one out each day - except Sunday!

I'll date each one - and I've numbered each one - it will be interesting to see how they arrive!

Dan, great idea. I am really looking forward to receiving them. Thank you so much.

How is everyone else today? It is quite wet here, and it keeps getting windy. I think I will pop out to the greenhouse and sow some seeds.

    Be Back in a while.

    Good morning.

It sounds like Dan has gone postal..whatever that means.

Rainy days are upon us too, and winds. It has gone sunny just now, but cool and dampish, and it will rain again this afternoon, and tomorrow and the next day.

I have learned that ministry comes in all shapes and forms. As an outcome of the funeral I took a week ago, I have been dealing with a man who was abused as a young lad in the RC Church. His approach was that his son has never been baptized and he wanted to know what to do about it. I went straight to the need for a Saviour and this man is now reading a very good book that talks about this very thing as basic and then the Christian life in turmoil. Just the cat's meow for him. It never fails to excite me the way God moves. The opportunity to deal with not one soul, but two and then the entire family. Doesn't this ring of New Testament stories?

    Cheers,

    Jim

That is truly wonderful news. We have a mighty and awesome God.

May I ask what book you recommended to him. I never know what to recommend to people who are wanting to know more, other than the Bible that is.

    Hi Sheila,

Yes, it is marvellous. I have one book I have used for years.

The Fight by Dr. John White, InterVarsity Press and it only costs about $9.00 US...You should have an InterVarsity in the UK. Check the internet.

Dr. White is gone now, but he was a Plymouth Brethren from the UK and taught her in Canada at Regent College (University in BC). He was a psychiatrist and this book is well written and addresses a lot of the typical problems one faces in the Christian walk.

I used to give it to all new Christians in my ministry. Yes, the Bible is number one, but people will read a book where they might feel confused with the different translations.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Hi Granny - how you doing? Did you retrieve the golf ball - so you could display it. The apostles were often stoned - Granny gets golf balled!

Dan - it's truly sad - the things I think are funny!

    Good Morning All,

I am up bright and early cos I can't sleep.
Jim, thank you re: the book.

Not sure about Plymouth Brethren tho' You have mentioned them before, but they don't seem to be regarded too favourably over here. But always willing to learn if you wish to comment.

    God Bless

Granny - be careful - it's not do unto others before they do unto you!

Dan - trying to be funny again - though "prolly" unsuccessfully so!

    Sheila,

There is no fear from the Plymouth Brethren. We often thought of them as baptists without a minister. They are fundamental in beliefs, but strongly dispensational.

When I left the CofE I became a PB, but because they had no paid clergy, I joined the baptist union. I grew into being a baptist. The PB's gave me a solid foundation in the word, personal living and a desire for personal fellowship with God. They are strict with regards to separating from the world and living a godly life.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Sheila,

By the way, F.F. Bruce was Plymouth Brethren too.

I think you are familiar with his writing...Sheffield University.

All the best with the book when you do get it. I love the book personally. Loads of scripture.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Another glorious day, and the prospects of new opportunities to testify to God's goodness.

Hello to everyone who passes by. It is here I like that poem by Edwin Markham:

He drew a circle that shut me out-
Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout.
    But love and I had the wit to win;
We drew a circle that took him in!

    Cheers,

    Jim

I am going to slack off posting at all. It seems that when I post, it is either ignored or ends the thread. Not so much here, but for sure over in All Other Discussions. Must be a curse or something.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Jim,

I am on a study break. I am certainly not ignoring you. I just have a lot on at the moment.

    Hoping you will re-consider,

    God Bless

Hi, everyone. I have been reading and hanging out in the Women's Forum. The storms have kept us on edge, but have been missing us. Actually, it is really good sleeping weather. I think I slept three hours today. I have learned to talk to Ed on the phone while I am asleep. I think I may be fooling him. Anyway, he came home two hours early today. Boy, did I have to rush around to look like I had been busy all day.

I didn't make my weekly trip to the grocery store because I didn't want to get caught out in a storm. I will probably have to go tomorrow. We are out of dog food. Can't stand that woe begone look Muffin gives me.

Hope your studying is going well, Sheila.

Jim, don't take it personally, I thought I had the record for killing threads and being ignored.

None of you are being ignored...I read everything, haha! SisThankful, dear lady, you are sooo thoughtful and sweet. I love your last couple of posts elsewhere...esp. the one in the "meeting place" room. I know what ya mean about missing posters...there's many gone-some by choice, others not.

I did something strange a few days ago & that's join another Board & at first, I felt like I'd done something "bad". This is the only Board I've ever belonged to, but several folks invited me to come on over & so after much prayer, I did it. I don't post much there, nor here anymore, for that matter.

This room & y'all are a real blessing to me! [IMG]

    Granny,

I've joined several other boards - some still in existence - some not.

But I spend most of my time on BB - and love it!

Time to mow the lawn again?
I think I'll have to mow mine - real soon!

Jim - I almost always stop by the tea room when I'm on the board. I was busy today - in fact - I've been either busy or travelling for the past week - and haven't been posting a lot.

And now Gib has gone ahead of me again in my post count. Course - that may be because I'm trying not to double post much anymore. Have to set a good example - you know!

    Dan
