Again, anyone really believe that Mel was lead by the Holy Spirit to make this movie or was it another spirit?

    Apologies.

Now it's a Catholic'ized Movie. Before it was a Catholic'ized "Gospel." Make up your mind.

What bothers me is guys like you who claim the movie presents a false gospel when it does no such thing.

Also, you didn't answer my question:

    Did you see the movie?
    </font>[/QUOTE]Yes. I did. and I didn't like it.

You say you've seen it, now prove how it presents a false gospel.

    BornBaptist,

You have crossed the line. You need to repent of your filthy gutter mouth. This is a forum for those who not only claim to know the Lord but those who walk in Him. You have gone into the flesh and your words are filthy. Knock it off or get off. You are in need of rebuke and I am bringing it.

Okay folks, I'm reopening the thread.

I really, really dislike having to use the edit button on other people's posts. However, some situations neccessitate it.

May I clear up that though it appears only my posts were edited, the moderator completely deleted entire posts of BornBaptist that were vulgar and threatening.

The plain facts are wrong in this movie, so badly that I think it is useless as far as faith is concerned - it's not Scriptural. Secondly the theology of this movie is not Protestant faith, but Roman Catholic error in every respect. Its results show how correct this observation is - its 'ecumenical' success speaks for itself.

I do not believe Catholic doctrine and there were perhaps instances in the film where someone familiar with their beliefs would see the catholic influence. Maybe.

The simple fact is that this movie is about and focuses on what it's title proclaims and it does not teach a false gospel. I am talking about this movie, not Catholicism in general. It is a movie about the love of Christ and His laying down His life and the awful abuse He took in our stead.

I think the movie was intended for the average Joe, who knows very little about "theology". It is a good witness tool. The point is that Jesus died, and died a horrible death, for us.

Maybe some of the strict fundies don't like the focus on Jesus' love for us!!!!! ;) ;)

I am saddened to see a movie tearing people apart so. The best way I can look at it is:

Yes there were parts that might not be completely correct, however keep in mind that there are people who are visual in that they need to be able to "see" things in order to be able to understand them better. I have read the Bible account of Jesus' death on the cross, and have heard the story of it. I believe that it happened...Jesus died on the cross for our sins. When I saw this movie it made...how best to put this...kinda took me back and made me feel like I was there and brought to life the gospel. Yes there will be errors in things that man does and that is because he is man and not God. The other thing I wish to impress upon ya'll is that if you watch this with someone who hasn't read the Bible and is unfamiliar with the story of what Jesus did you can answer their questions after seeing the movie and guide help guide them to salvation. It is my prayer now that everyone will calm down and have peace in the Lord our God. Love from you sister in Christ,

Maybe???????? That's like saying Jeffery Dalmer May be a killer! or Michael Jackson May be a little weird!

Yes, But they used Catholic overtones and imagery to convey that message. Mel Gibson is a pre-vatican 2 Christian, Agreed? Further more, they ADDED things to the Story, that were NOT EVEN IN THE BIBLE!!!!!!!!!!

If you going to tell a story Tell the right one!

Okay... I'm done with this debate, I said my peace, and now I'm through..

    BornBaptist,

You should stop saying you're done here then continue to post.

The movie, this is really elementary, has a title. And that title is "The Passion of the Christ." That is what the movie focuses on. There is no debate that it was not an accurate picture of just that - the suffering beating and crucifixion of Jesus.

It does not preach a Catholic false gospel. It gives a picture of what Jesus endured for our sins. Period.
