This you do not see in Acts. What you do see is open air preaching and direct witnessing with strangers.

Sure you see it in Acts. Look at the jailor; he took them into his house, they ate together; that isn't an example of building a relationship and commitment?

No, brother. I do see this in Acts (and throughout the New Testament). What you mean to say is that YOU can see nothing but open air preaching and direct witnessing with strangers in Acts. The reason for such a limited view is something you may want to consider.

He passed out tracts that looked like fish and bread vouchers.

That is not surprising... Scripture say when he came to his right mind... Your mind was somewhere else I just tweaked it a little!... Brother GlenWink

Evan - I have a quick question for when you pass out tracks:

When you do pass the tracts - do you stamp them with your church name, address and phone #?

    and why not -
when I do pass out tracts - I always put our church info on there.
Remember - salvation is important - but so is discipleship.

So WHY do you not put our church address on tracts.

John of Japan spoke of a tract that he handed out getting into the hands of someone who was able to contact him because of his info on it and he was able to disciple this guy. I think that is the ONLY way tracts should be used - with a way for the person to be able to further contact the hander-outer. :)

Probably because there is not enough room on money tracts or other WOTM tracts. I do also use tracts from other ministries and probably should get a stamp made to include this info thanks for the suggestion.

That, IMHO, is a "danger" of tracts. I have seen them used as an excuse not to evangelize (like wearing a Christian t-shirt, or putting a sticker on your car, and calling that witnessing to others). All of those things can be tools, and all of those can lead to evangelism, but none are evangelism in and of themselves.

Not all tracts have the space.

Then you make a label of your own and stick it on. It makes space. If a tract doesn't have space to make it so that someone can actually be led to the Lord by someone, then I'd not use it.

It you're using the money tracts, I'd urge you not to. Nothing worse than a person seeing it, getting their hopes up, and then being disappointed when they realize that it's just literature. I've actually heard a waitress say that she would never visit a certain church because they left her one of the money tracts with her tip.

These examples are rare in Acts.
