Even within the above, their are divisions.
    The Bible Presbyterians (Carl Macyntire, et.al), only baptize those that have made a profession of faith in Christ.
    There are evangelical Methodists that do the same. Not all of them are liberal. Wesley would roll over in his grave if he knew that his followers were practicing baptismal regeneration. It is not something that he believed in.

    </font>
Looks like Wesley would roll over in his grave if he knew that his followers were no longer believing the doctrine of baptismal regeneration. It was something that he believed!

    Ain't it the truth!

    I think a certain segment of the Christian world is going to expose itself as, shall we say, flawed followers of Christ in the next few weeks. At the same time, another segment will demonstrate Christian love for their fellow believers. Sunlight, as always, is an excellent disinfectant.

    </font>
That it is.

    The problem, mike, is that these "flawed followers," like the people involved in the Christinsanity in fromt of the Florida hospice where Terry Schiavo died, won't notice.

    It's too bad when we have become so religious that we can't mourn the loss of a Christian leader, whether we agree with all of his teachings or not.

    I would hope that, had Jerry falwell died when he was hospitalized, I would show the love and compassion of Christ to all the BBers crushed by their loss.

    Obviously the significance of the baptism of children, to Wesley meant something different. Wesley is clear on his theology of baptism. It is a sign of regeneration or the new birth. That came at profession. Infants can't profess. Read Wesley sermons--thoroughly evangelical. He would never baptize until the person had been saved. Whatever this latter statement meant I am not sure. It more than likely had to do with infant dedication, not salvation.

    I won't be sending any of his followers any nice words real soon.

    I took the Doc Watson guitar flatpicking method. Are you going to send me condolences when he passes ?

    Wesley's closests followers and friends didn't think that is what he meant.

    Last I checked, rejection of infant baptism and baptismal regeneration were not evangelical distinctives.

    DHK, you're reinterpreting what he wrote.
