Our church believes the New Testament sets forth 5 distinct elements of worship which when taken together constitute a 'worship service'. The 5 elements we find commonly practiced among New Testament Christians are those of:

    1. Prayer
    2. Singing (Hymns, Psalms, and Spiritual Songs)
    3. The Preaching of the Word.
    4. The administration of the ordinances
    5. And the giving and receiving of tithes and offerings.

These elements constitute the extent of our worship service. And we believe they are designed for believers for only believers can worship God 'in spirit and in truth' (John 4:24).

Absolutely, the Lord's Table, is one of the most worshipful services we have. If there is a service where there is much worship involved it is here.
And John 4:24 is a key verse in worship: He must be worshiped in spirit and in truth.

We have both saints/sinners in the service for teaching of the Word, as how can they not get saved by god unless they hear the word preached unto them?

And sinners bypass taking the communion, still can be a witness to them during that practice!

I read one time that worship is telling God the truth about Himself; and telling others (including each other) the truth about God.

Where does James 1:27 fit into these definitions of Worship?

We must not isolate Scripture from its context. The theme of the Book of James is "practical Christian living." It is speaking of the practical side of our Christian life. Once we are saved, then what?
The result of "pure religion" or true faith in Christ is one who will visit the fatherless and the widows in their afflictions. That is one thing.
The result of true faith in Christ is one who will demonstrate good works in their lives (chapter two).
The result of true faith in Christ is one who will have a "tame tongue" (chapter three).
The result of true faith in Christ is one who will live a life without worldliness (chapter four).
--This is a book written to Christians on practical Christian living. That verse does not address "worship" specifically.

The word translated as Religion here is also translated as Worship in other places. The two appear to be tied together. To quote Doug Moo quoting Calvin:

"We would badly misunderstand these verses were we to think that James is intending to summarize here all that true worship of God should involve. As Calvin says, “[James] does not define generally what religion is, but reminds us that religion without the things he mentions is nothing.”

Is Worship not a part of "practical Christian living?"

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. (James 1:27)

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. (Matthew 6:6)

Worship is before God and the Father (James 1:27)
Prayer or worship is in secret to the Father (Mat.6).

When done both will result in Godly lives lived out in doing good for others. Both verses are teaching the same thing. A life with the right attitude toward God and the Father will result in good works done in the right attitude for Christ.

I think it is good to distinguish between a worship service (proper) and worship as a way of life for the Christian.

I certainly agree with you on this with one clarification. Worship can only be done by a believer as it is done in spirit and truth and it is not limited to a time and place. True worshippers worship with their lives and at times come together for corporate worship. If an unbeliever is present and becomes saved because of the worship message then our worship becomes a greater blessing to all the true worshippers.
