And (seriously) Jim Bakker was going wild about a year ago over a cow just born with a white number "7" on its forehead -- obviously (according to Bakker) the beginning of the 7 fat years to be followed by the tribulational 7 lean years. He even had the rancher and his wife on his TV show (which I watch now and then merely for the entertainment created by listening to his crazy "prophets").

Would be funnier if so many of his followers didn't believe it....

Any comparison (Biblicaly speaking) between this or any eclipse and the Blood Moon craze of a couple years ago?

Sigh. America is prone to superstitions and thus to false religion. Whipped and whirled by the latest trends, Christians succumb to all manner of inanity when they should be grounded in the word of God and not be paying attention to the latest best-selling book being hawked.

America has a unique heritage: a blend of religious fervor often untethered to the ancient faith (Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormonism, Worldwide Church of God, Seventh Day Adventism, Word of Faith, etc.) and a love of science, which elevates pseudoscience to religion.

How are the communists going to turn the eclipse into a "racist" event? Stand by.

The dates of eclipses have been well-known for many years, including those of the "blood moons'. I believe the prophecies about the sun's light being partially obscured & the moon turning to blood will be fulfilled by smoke or dust in the atmosphere caused either by war or by natural disasters. "Signs" in the sky will be caused by non-predicted events and will be unusual, Eclipses have been observed ever since man has been here.

Don't worry, you will get another chance in 2018. Well, actually you will get 5 chances. That is how many eclipses will happen next year (including partial and lunar).

The next total eclipse will be June 2, 2019.

Then another the day after Christmas 2019.

    Then June 21, 2020.

Actually they are fairly common. :)

Maybe you should have read The Atlantic article instead of accepting the Daily Caller synopsis, although it might threaten your tender sensibilities. The article is not about science; it's about demography and history. But to read the original article is just too much trouble, I guess. It's much better to find a catchy headline on the web and pass it off as God's truth.

Of course, you would disagree with the original article, but you surely wouldn't think that is argues that "the eclipse is racist."

Come to think of it, I'm not sure you would. Trolling is such more fun.

Unlike our ancestors, we know what eclipses are. They're merely shadows, an absence of light caused by one object blocking a light source.

Once again, the prophesied obscuring of the sun's light and the moon appearing to have turned to blood will be caused by the dust and smoke of natural disasters or as the result of war. It'll have nothing to do with the natural phenomena God has made for man's enjoyment. (Millions of Americans had a great time yesterday viewing the eclipse.)
