I agree with Michael Graham here. I would not worry if I were him though. This will be free publicity, and if he is as popular as he thinks he is, he will have taken a stand for his convictions, and somebody will pick him up to meet the demand in the market, and ABC and their local radio affiliate will be the big losers.

    Norquist/Rove

    Infiltration by Paul Sperry

The final section of the book deals with members of our current administration and their allegiance with radical Islam. One such name mentioned is Grover Norquist, a good friend of Karl Rove. Since 9/11 many Republicans hae moved away from Norquist due to his blatant connections to terrorist sympathizers such as Abdurahman Alamoudi and Khaled Saffuri. Alamoudi was arrested in 2003 by British authorities for attempting to smuggle $340k to the United States. His former deputy Saffuri somehow is still an invited guest to the White House to deliver lectures on how not to spy on Muslims.

I'm willing to bet that if I had a radio show, and I started talking about how I feel about Islam, I'd be fired before the broadcast was over.

Since Disney owns ABC, could their motivation be business related and not free speech related?

I guess it all boils down to whose ox is getting gored. In this case, Michael Graham gored the wrong ox. For some reason, it seems that it is not good to criticize Islam. People should read more about their history of teror, murder and rape as they spread their diabolical and perverted religion.

It looks like he landed on his feet with a bigger audience.

Radio Host Fired Over Muslim Comments Returning to Air
    By Randy Hall
    CNSNews.com Staff Writer/Editor
    August 24, 2005

(CNSNews.com) - A talk show host who was fired by a Washington, D.C., radio station after saying that "Islam is a terrorist organization" is returning to the air with a one-hour weekday webcast after doing a fill-in show for a Los Angeles station.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 29, Michael Graham -- who had hosted a mid-morning talk show on WMAL until he was suspended without pay on July 29 and later fired by the station -- will begin a new program called "Michael Graham, Unleashed!" that will air at 12 noon on the Rightalk.com website.

"Finally! I'm going to be back on the radio again -- and the best part is, they'll be able to hear it in Washington, D.C.!" Graham said in a statement posted Wednesday on his website.

There is no issue of free speech here.

Free speech means that I can go on the street corner and say "all n*ggers are idiots". Free speech does not mean that I can say this on a privately-owned radio owned by someone else and not expect to have my radio privileges revoked.

Anyone who has listened to Graham knows he's been a loose cannon for a long time, and that this was by no means a one-time incndent. I'm somewhat surprised that he was not fired prior to this.
If I were hired as a radio personality, and said that Judaism as practiced today is a false religion, and that all Jews are going to hell, I'd likewise get fired, even though I'm scripturally correct, and most Christians would agree with me.

And I'd still support the radio station's right to do so.

The real issue should be whether or not Graham said anything on the air which is defamatory or obscene. In order for a statement to be defamatory it must be untrue.

His opening remarks were "I take no pleasure in saying it. It pains me to think it. I could very well lose my job in talk radio over admitting it. But it is the plain truth. Islam is a terror organization." Perhaps someone could provide a link to the whole commentary.

Completely separate of this issue, Michael Graham has been a loose cannon for quite some time. I'm quite surprised he hasn't gotten suspended before. Maybe he has, and I'm just not aware of it.

This is not an isolated incident, though.

Back in 2003, he said about Hillary Clinton, "I wanted to bludgeon her with a tire iron. That's what I wanted to do."

And in 2004, he ran a show that implied violence against American Muslims (not Muslim terrorists as a specific).

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Conservative Republicans don't need to be accociated with someone who uses this type of unrestrained extremist language. He does damage to the conservative movement. Better to listen to Rush Limbaugh than Graham.

Thanks Johnv for providing the quote by Graham.

While highly inflammatory, Graham's statement is not necessarily defamatory, in as much as it is ambiguous. Is there a clear definition of the term "terror organization?"

Does it mean that there are persons in the organization who promote terror?

Or does it mean that the organization itself promotes terror?

It looks like he was fired, more for business reasons than anything else. He is certainly not P.C.

I'll be that his comment regarding Hillary Clinton was taken out of context. It was probably more a metaphor used to exress his anger at something she said or did.

According to the New Testament, Jesus often used metaphors when speaking to his first twelve. but he usually followed his metaphors up quickly with more simple explanations.
