The question was brought up on another thread as to what the symbol that is found in a NKJV is by another poster.

Some say it represents the Holy Trinity, and Wikipedia agrees with this.

However, after researching other sites, I find it was used on Led Zeppelin albums, it is used on tarot cards, and in the wiccan religion, it is used to represent a trinity, but not the Holy Trinity. The wiccan religion affirms that it represents this trinity: The Triple Celtic Goddess'of Maiden, Mother, and Crone which symbolizes Power, Protection, and Positive energy.

    Information here: Ancient Celtic Symbol

Wikipedia says it was a religious symbol of the trinity since before the crucifixion.

If one does a search on google for the word 'triquestra' one can find much concerning this mystic symbol.

We've had threads before about that, and as I have said many itmes, I use NKJV and it isn't on or in my bible, nor my husbands.

    Donna,

Good, I am glad it is not. But I can guarantee that if you go into a Waldenbooks or such store, go back the the religion section, pull a NKJV off the shelf, you will find it.

I had a NKJV when I moved to Mississippi from Virginia. It had the symbol in it.

Symbols in general have the meaning the users place on them.

Consider uses of the cross. The cross has been used by paganism. It is symbolic of Christianity. It is symbolic of the Knights Templar... and it symbolizes something totally perverse to people like Madonna. When asked why she wore crosses as jewelry, she said something to the effect that the idea of a naked man on a cross was erotic to her.

The Triquestra may have been used by any number of groups. The question: Is there any proof whatsoever that the NKJV publishers use it with any malice whatsoever?... and the answer is NO.

I never heard of it. If it represents the Trinity, fine. Why try to look so deep you can't see the forest for the trees?

    Not necessarily fine, JR...

If it represents the Unholy Trinity, we cannot say 'fine' as if there is nothing wrong with it.

We are not to just turn our heads to evil.

Pagan and Idol worship was around before the crucifixion.

Was the symbol brought into christianity under a false guise as representing the Holy Trinity?

    I believe it was.

I think I agree with Scott. Symbols only have the power we give them.

Now, was it right for a publisher of a Christian bible to include a symbol in which they didn't research? Or worse, put it there knowing it's history? No.

If that's the standard, SFIC, than Christmas trees and Easter eggs are evil too. And I know many churches that have Christmas trees and Easter egg hunts. Does the symbol make you think of God, Jesus, Spirit? It does me. Therefore, it's done it's job. Even given the history of the symbol, I never would have been swayed to "the dark side" just by looking at it. It is what it is. Use it, don't use it. Just like Christmas trees.

Never allowed a tree in my sanctuary, nor my house. Never allowed egg hunts either.

Not gonna look at an occultic symbol and say the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost can be seen in it. That is blasphemy.

KJV Acts 17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.

I agree a symbol is what you make of it. Take the Horoscope. This was derived from the Gospel in the stars.

Another example of a good symbol being used for "bad". The Icthus. The Florida Marlins use a fish as their symbol, and they're downright awful.

Seems to me someone is spending too much time on the Texx Marrs website.

I am sure the translators of the NKJV intentionally put an occultic symbol, that everyone knows is occultic, on the cover of the Bible. They did this so they could blasheme God and lead others to blaspheme God.

Are all those who proclaim these inane charges willing to open their 1611 KJV and look at the artwork and symbols that were in them?

SFIC - So I'm blaspheming because I can see a symbol and think of God? Geez, there's no winning with you.

Just handwrite your own version of Scripture: that way you don't have to worry about the artwork, symbolism, font size, cover design, or even publication date. But then, is that white notebook paper racist?

There is a point to take these kinds of things too far. I think we hit it a few posts back.

it only represents what you want it too. a symbol on it's own has no power or authority but what you give it.

one cannot rightly look at that which is associated with the occult and say they see God in it.

My God is not in the symbols of witchcraft. My Lord is not in that which is satanic. My comforter is not in anything associated with evil.

What about Satan? Was Lucifer not God's own creation?

How then can you say that He(God) is not associated with evil? Did He not create that which became evil KNOWING that it would?

    SFIC says:

Well, I guess that reverses 1500 years of Church history, then.

Just like the usual Christmas - Yule, Easter - Eostremonat, Halloween - Samhain malarky that comes out every year, this is much ado about nothing.

The fact that others, including pagans, use the same symbol, date, etc that Christians use, no matter which use came first, is irrelevant to its appropriate use by Christians. Why is association fallacy so popular here?

Bzzz wrong! The NKJV has a new logo now partly because of all the false hype about the previous one.

SFIC, I notice you have a tiger in that picture with you.

Of course before including that image you researched this so you do know that the tiger spirit is meaningful in Chinese paganism as well as various other forms of eastern mysticism to include hinduism. Therefore, we can draw no other conclusion than you are an impostor here out to deceive the rest of us. Everything you have ever posted here must be considered tainted by eastern mysticism. By the very same rule you have applied to the NKJV, YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF THE OCCULT.
