I didn't watch the video. What's the "truth about semi auto firearms?" The truth I know about semi auto is that you don't have to keep physically putting a round in the chamber. It's nice just to pull the trigger and have used cartridge ejected and another round automatically placed in the chamber. Whats the truth about policing your own brass?

Watch the video. The policeman shows how a semi-auto firearms, wrongly called assault rifles, are made to look like assault rifles. He shows that they are nothing more than a typical hunting rifle. And yes, semi-auto just means you have to keep pulling the trigger until the mag is empty.

That mistake is made often by people who know nothing about firearms. And yes many semi autos are made to look like assault weapons though they don't have the full automatic capability. Which if used properly you wouldn't just unload your clip. three then pause. There are many people who just don't like the idea of firearms. But just like a knife its a tool.

True. The video is helpful to inform people who may not know.

My daughter and her husband hunt all the time. They even shot their last deer in my back fields.

Still, frankly, I haven't been able to stand guns since I came home from Korea. Even a loud radio was enough to almost put me on the ground. A car backfire much the same.

I am not so much opposed to hunting or firearms in general. I saw so many people killed during those three years and the noise of say 100 guns firing at once for hours at a time does have an affect.

    Happy safe hunting.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    So a Tec-9 isn't an assault weapon?

Well, the ATF view it as one because it can be easily be converted back to a full automatic. Ie you don't have to do serious work to the reciever to make it full auto. So it is because it can be easily converted back since its design is based on an assualt weapon. Just like the Thompson Contender or Encore is viewed by ATF under the same rules as a handgun because of easy convertability.

I want any potential burglar or assailant to wonder if I have a weapon.

Better yet, I want him to be convinced that I do.

    Because I do

    Yep,

And I used to work third shift. My wife is a very light sleeper. So I showed her how to load and use my 12 GA double barrel. Then we made a plan that if ever I was not at home and she woke up to the sound of someone breaking into our house she would get our kids from their rooms and they would all hide in a big closet. My wife was to position the kids behind her and stand with the 12 GA pointed at the door. If someone opened it she was to give them two loads of 00 Buck in the chest. Reload, you get the picture....

Did anyone hear the results of that gentleman in Texas who shot burglars while on a 911 call? Can you let me know what happened?

If this is the Tec-9, then this weapon should not be illegal. Never heard of it. From the vid it is obviously not a machine gun. If it is easily convertable I wouldn't have the first clue on how to do it. Most semi-autos are NOT easily convertable.

That is correct most are not easily convertable and even if it is it's generally expensive. I can't down load the You tube to see what you are talking about.

What I was told in my conceal-carry class a few weeks ago:

The grand jury did not indict him because: (1) he was completely within Texas law which allows the use of deadly force to protect property, and (2) he only fired on the two robbers when they came after him after he confronted them with a shotgun.
