    1. It is not in the direct will (as opposed to the permissive will) of the LORD.

    2. He is not getting enough votes, or at least hasn't thus far.

    Oh, wait! That's two 'simple' reasons!

    Okay.... Okay... There's one simple reason why it may not be the direct will of God and also why he's not winning votes (or, losing, if you prefer just one word):

    He makes Kerry look principled.
