In my years as a Christian, I have found that most of the brethren (including myself at times) are thick-headed and thin-skinned. Anyone with me?

If so, what are some recommendations to remedy this sickness?

Jhn 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Agreed, good verse. For some (can I get an amen here?) this is one of the hardest commandments to keep. I am as most, I fall under that category sometimes and fall under condemnation (not in the sense of losing salvation, but in the sense of being in sin) for denying it at other times.

Well, for the thick headed, which I can relate to, I would say Bible study, prayer, and exchange of ideas like on this board. There is lots to learn.

Thin skinned is harder for me to relate to, as I have never really cared what anyone thought about my opinions, or worried what anyone thought of me. I try to give a reasonable response or act the best I can in a given situation what I think is right. Sometimes when I fail, I ask God for guidance and forgiveness, and ask for forgiveness of anyone I wronged, learn and move on. As far as what others think that were not involved think, I could care less. The trick for me is to press on and not linger on the past except for lessons learned.

I am bad hard headed but do not have a problem with thin skin. I am hard to convince of something being different than I believe (know:laugh: ) it to be. When I m convinced I will admit I was wrong. Thankfully that has not happened yet but I am just 48 there is still time. If the Lord is willing. LOL

My wife says I am thick skinned and thin headed!!!

I think that means I am a fat idiot! But I am not for sure... since I have a thin head!

Just going by your picture, I would say your wife is wrong. You are NOT 'thin' headed.:tongue3: But.....looks can be deceiving.

Take my picture for example. Some may get the wrong impression that I am a small four legged German dog. But I am Scottish!

Just so you know, this isn't the first time he has done this. I hope other BBers are picking up on this because I am growing tired of it

Bro Williams began a new thread due to comments he despised by another poster in another thread, just like he is doing right here. This may be familiar to you.

It was a thread about Children labouring, witnessing etc for the Lord due to a post he didn't like from another poster in another thread. IN fact, his first sentence verbatim is " I was recently (ignorantly) chastised by a member on this board for promoting children serving the Lord".

In this thread of Children labouring, witnessing for the Lord, a poster then posted a pic from Bro Williams churches website of small children holding signs on the side of the road, one which promoted the fear of god. This pic, and Bro Williams words of his two year old child hands out bible tracts to strangers and holds signs for him caused much controversy. The pic was later removed. Here are a few of his statements to me (one had to be edited by a Mod) from this thread-
"Still no one can provide Bible stating that this is child abuse. The rest was an insult removed by a Mod.
"And thank God they are promoting the fear of the Lord, many are saved from such - see the book of Jude (it's in the NT... NT stands for New Testament... that's in your Bible...)"
So he must tell me what OT stands for and that it is in my bible. I guess he feels belittling me is going to make him feel better.
He also then refers to myself & MP as "useless to the conversation in light of god's word" More belittling.

Since a few days has passed, I took him off ignore thinking maybe things got better...:praying:

Now I go to the Bible Memory Plan thread, and he is causing strife there too. One of his replies to the moderator include "Oh come now, all versions have to place other words in them to make complete sentences when translating from various languages to another language, any high schooler knows this from taking beginners spanish."
He has put down Dr. Bob's intelligence and then...his bible. He has another post edited for attacking the word of god (Bible versions)

He goes into another forum to call Calvinism a doctrine of the devil. His posts are full of constant misunderstandings where he is defending himself, being misunderstood (in his mind), being sarcastic, BELITTLING, and putting others down. :BangHead:

I know I am not perfect but I would be here all day if I were to name off every rude comment I have seen thrown at the various posters in the short time he has been here.

How about "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus..."?

I think you missed the whole "(myself included)" statement in the OP Joe. Way to prove my point though.

    1. Spend more time with the Lord in prayer and in His word.

    2. Confess sins of pride and high-mindedness.

    3. Do not allow yourself to be deceived by self. (Goading brethren is NOT spiritual no matter how one presents it.)

    4. When convicted of your errors, make things right immediately.

    5. Take a vacation from the BB for a few days- and I am NOT kidding. Sometimes we get too emotional on here and we need to step away and clear our heads.

Also I TRY to make it a practice to not pull the trigger too fast on my responses. Sometimes I fail and let the flesh get the best of me- as I suppose we all do.

 :( You mean thickheaded and thinskinned are bad things????

Here I was thinking that if I were staunch in my faith and yet gracious enough not to call someone an idiot when I knew they were being one, I was doing a good thing!!!!!
