Deputy Director for Homeland Security was caught in a sting trying to seduce a 14-year-old girl on an AOL chatroom, bragging that he worked for Homeland Security. Details are breaking.

If he's guilty...put him in a muslim prison. That should take care of him.

    LE,
Not only is it disguisting, it is also very, very stupid. How many programs have been aired nationally lately about sting operations of adults trying to seduce children on the internet. A recent program, "To Catch a Preditor" was an amazing in who it brought out of the wood work, teachers, clergy, firemen, etc.

This can not be a real bright guy, as he is at the center of government operations, and fairly high up at that. How could anyone with that position of trust and authority be that stupid?

Ronald Reagan sure had that right. The best and brightest are too good to serve their country in the government. Think of how that would sidetrack their career track after all. [IMG]

For once, I am at a loss for words.....the stupidity of this man almost rivals his depravity.

I am thinking about applying for a job with one of the teams that try to lure and catch these dirt bags in my state.

I have been thinking about it for a while but I am not sure if it would be rewarding or just disgusting.

It could be both. Even the sewer system has to have workers. But, I would think the rewarding part of shutting down these types would be stronger than the disgusting part.

Actually I was thinking of that James Bond flick with the Laser Beam inching up between the legs...

You know, it sounds bad, but if you were to advertise that from now on these offenders would no longer be imprisoned or incarcerated, they would be castrated, you'd have a major fall-off.

Unfortunately, there's no evidence it would work. It isn't really about sex for these guys. It's about power over a weaker, smaller person.

They'd still be a menace. There is no known cure for these miserable people. At best, they can hold their urges at bay, if they are not given opportunity.

This is why they have to be separated from places where children are found.

Galatian, how do we know it would't work? Most of the research I have seen has been theoretical...not actual.

To my knowledge, there have never been field tests on the subject.

There are quite of few volunteers we can try your theory out on...they are called sexual predators. Let's snip 'em and monitor the subjects and see if there's a behavioral change.

Actually, there have been numerous pedophiles that have undergone chemical castration (Depo-Provera injections) while incarcerated and upon their release from prison.

The problem is that the injections have to be continued with consistency or the process will reverse itself.

The injections dramatically lower the sex drive, not the ability, but the drive. There are also side effects to prolonged use of the drug that some consider not worth the risk.

However, as has been stated earlier, part of the ugliness of pedophilia is about control and dominance, not just sex.

Physically castrate a pedophile or chemically castrate him and you will still have a monster......a monster whose desire to cruelly manipulate the life of a child will just manifest itself in other ways.

Ways just as ugly and immoral.

In other words, you can injure the beast, but you still have a beast, just an angry one and in some ways a more dangerous one.

To me, there is not a clear, concise, nor easy solution to what to do with pedophiles once they have been caught short of locking them away for the rest of their natural lives.

    Peace-
    Scarlett O.

OK, so we have had studies that "chemical" castration is not a deterrent. Fine. Go with physical castration. There's no maintenance needed there.

Furthermore, even if it is not a deterrent, it is a punishment. Castrate 'em anyway, AND STILL leave 'em in prison.

I have a clear concise idea of what to do with sexual predators, it's called lethal injection.
