Exactly HCL, she's all of the above.

Our minister put the wrong date on our marriage certificate and when it came in the mail a few months later I was so distraught! I was terrified we'd be considered living in sin. I called all around and the preacher just called the city clerk and told her he'd signed the license the day before our wedding so he wouldn't forget it and had put that date on it. We received a corrected copy not long after. I've kept both copies all these years in case our marriage legality was ever questioned.

Married twice in two days. That's interesting.

The issues of a 501(c)(3)vary from state to state.

But if a couple is not legally married what do you call them when they live together. I call them living in sin. They are not avoiding the appearance of evil. It is very much the appearance of sin.

When people support not haveing to have a ,arriage license they already support homosexual marriage, that people shacking up should be considered married. On the other hand we fight for marriage and 'christians' fight for anyone being married just by living in sin together.

This is apparently the only method she knows, it's all we've ever seen.

    HCL
Anyone just shacking up without obeying God is just fornicating.

Then how come the rest of the tax payer haven't received one of these. We have 3 people at church who work for Social Security, and according to our Sunday school teacher, who is one of the higher up in Social security in the state of Ky, says no one is suppose to know that

There have been references made to a church supporting widows and not the government (Social Security).

Do these churches send a monthly check to the widows that is enough for them to live on?

Did you ever work outside of your home? If you have you should get the same letter I get every year with this public information. This is public information not some big secret. It does not bother me though. We render to Ceaser what is Ceasars. Jesus clearly taught that we are to pay taxes.

donnA the Word teaches this, not people. The Word lays it out in Timothy how this is to be done. Is it practiced in many churches?probably not. Does your church practice this?

I know what the Bible says. I want to know how a church can pay a monthly check to all their widows.

Walls said her church practices this. Donna and I would like to know how it is accomplished.

Our church gives spiritual support to the widows, assists them in their needs, but we do not give them a monthly check to live on.

    I'm not interested in philosophy
    or pie-in-the-sky. I've got 33
widows here at my local church to
support. If i do money, that means
a monthly bill of $36,500 - that is
twice the monthly income of our
    church.

By contrast, all the TRUE widows over 60
are able to draw Social Security.
What is wrong with letting the
US Government who has taken 7-10%
    of everybodies money for decades
to help here? What scripture says
NOT to let the govenment do what it would
like to do - especialy if it would
    be to our benefit?

Well Ed, I agree if they are taking our money they ought to give some of it back.

Looks like she is gone for the evening. So, you can probably hear from her tommorow. We are visiting an Anabaptist church. Historically Anabaptist churches practice supporting widows.

Is it not already laid out in Scripture?

in hopes that, should the Lord tary,
someday I might have enough money to retire.

First you fussed about churches who do not do this. Then when asked about it you give other organizations, not churches who help, but do not support. So yes it is laid out in scripture, but you don't seem to be doing anything to follow it.

So how many widows does your church fully support?

If you do not fully support the widows in your church, then you are judging others for not doing it when your church doesn't do it either.
A full description of a pharisee if I ever saw one.

</font>[/QUOTE]I am repeating this since it seems that donna did not read it. I don't have access to financial records. My husband is not a deacon.

I prefer not to answer your very intrusive question. You asked me how much I gave to support widows. That is none of your business.

I'm going to call it a night!

HCL, most churches give all their members copies of the monthly financial report. Perhaps you could ask for one from your church.

I posted in the other thread about how families should take care of widows first.
