Thomas Kinkade, America's most collected living artist, is a devout Christian and credits the Lord for both the ability and the inspiration to create his paintings. He has won numerous awards and recognitions for his art. He expresses through his paintings - a love of life, family, faith in God, and the beauty of nature.

He have a few of his paintings.

Kinkade is our hometown boy. We're proud of him, but he has gone awfully commercial now, with Kinkade puzzles, towels, furniture, stationary -- the works. I was interested to find out that one of the old Calvary Chapel pastors is now one of the people in charge of some of this commercial venturing.

What I do enjoy getting and giving are the theme books which have a number of his pictures in them along with collected verses of both the Bible and his favorite poets.

We have a Thomas Kinkade gallery in one of our malls. Last Christmas I got a screen saver and wallpaper CD. Love it! I got about 36 pics which look great full-screen on my 19" monitor for $20. Those chapel ones are my favorite ones as well. Great minds think alike! ;)

This is excerpted from a very nice article about Thomas Kinkade found at the link below:

"For Thomas Kinkade, however, suffusing his canvas with light is more than just an artistic technique to invite people into his beautiful, idealized world; it is an expression of his faith in Jesus Christ as the "light of the world."
In a special Christmas interview with THE NEW AMERICAN, Mr. Kinkade explained his Christian worldview and how it relates to his work as an artist. "Each of us is a small part of God’s plan," he noted. "I’m a small part. I create paintings that are being used by God.... My work is a direct, front-line ministry. It goes into people’s homes and hearts who are unchurched. Many of the people who love my work have never heard the Gospel, and God can use me and these paintings to reach them." "

It's my hope that Thomas Kincaide & other godly artists like him will help restore respect & appreciation with truly good art. As the Schaeffers have long pointed out, art has often derided by Christians as being worldly. Of course it, along with all other gifts the Lord gives, can bring honor to His name, as Mr. Kincaide shows.
Some chide the arrival of "copycat artists" who do similar work to his, but it's a far cry better than the "modern art" we see so much of today!
I think TK art hits home with so many of us is it is entirely Americana. However, I don't know how popular it would be with any but us White AngloSaxon Protestant[BAPTIST!] types, because it is a romantic look at our ideals.
I'm thankful for Thomas Kincaide & his strong testimony of faith in the Savior.
Count our family in as being "fans" of his!
