What helps you grow spiritually?

What elements were present when you were challenged, inspired, motivated to grow spiritually?

[I searched for a better forum for this topic but this one seems to fit the most. I wanted something in a Baptist Fellowship group]

Writing sermons and trying to apply them to the needs of the people........first, I had to apply them to myself........God's word speaking to me, first...
