Good point. But, to clarify, the Constitution only codifies the right to keep and bear arms.

If you really want to know why the Founders and Framers took that right so seriously, read Federalist 26, 27, and 46.

I have. Any serious scholar uses The Federalist Papers to interpret the meaning of The Constitution. Shame the Courts forgot that.

I didn't mean "you", specifically. But it's good to know you're interested enough to pursue those things.

    Well, let's see. 26 + 20 = 46 shots in 10 minutes. 10 minutes = 600 seconds.

600 / 46 = 13 and change. One shot every 13 seconds is HARDLY "full automatic" rate of fire. It is not ever "semi-automatic" rate of fire. I can manage one round every 13 seconds with a single shot bolt action .22!

Another person who thinks he's an expert even though he knows absolutely NOTHING about firearms, and doesn't know what a "semi-automatic" is and what makes a firearm "fully automatic."

    Typical low information leftist.

So you know a lot about weapons. I really don't care. I care about saving lives as in I'm pro-life.

    Yep.

I know you don't. The turuth means nothing to you.

Me too. That is why I believe every law abiding person has the God given right to self-defense and I stand against the left wing murders who want to kill babies and allow the murders of thousands of people by disarming them. The left is the political position of hatred for their fellowmen. God hating totalitarianists to the core.

Being pro-gun does not equal anti-life.

There are anywhere between 1.5 million and 3 million AR-15s legally purchased and used by Americans. Even if we say the average owner has 3, that's 500,000-1,000,000 Americans with AR-15s.

Would you spank all of your children if one does something wrong? If all of your children had spoons, and one of them hit someone with their spoon, would you take the spoons away from all of them? If one of your children stabbed an animal or (God forbid) another child, would you forbid all of your children from using any knives? Would you remove all of the knives from your house?

No, shame the ones that have stacked the courts with liberal activist justices that that oppose the 'original intent' of the constitution.

    Jesus said:
    Mat 5:43
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
    Mat 5:44
    But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

How does your philosophy match the command of Jesus?

Why do we need all those guns especially AR-15s? That is the weapon of choice for terrorists and mass murderers. The murder rate per 100.000 inhabitants is 4.88 in America. here are the rates for the other developed nations:

    Russia 11.31
    India 3.21
    Canada 1.68
    Finland 1.6
    France 1.58
    Romania 1.49
    Hungary 1.48
    Romania 1.49
    Hungary 1.48
    Tajikistan 1.44
    Algeria 1.37
    Israel 1.36
    Nauru 1.31
    Cyprus 1.29
    Slovenia 1.21
    Sweden 1.15
    Serbia 1.13
    Oman 1.06
    Morocco 1.05
    Denmark 0.99
    Australia 0.98
    Portugal 0.97
    United Kingdom 0.92
    Iceland 0.91
    New Zealand 0.91
    Slovakia 0.88
    Croatia 0.87
    Greece 0.85
    Germany 0.85
    Taiwan 0.82
    Italy 0.78
    Czech Republic 0.75
    China 0.74
    South Korea 0.74
    Poland 0.74
    Luxembourg 0.72
    Switzerland 0.69
    Spain 0.66
    Ireland 0.64
    Netherlands 0.61
    Norway 0.56
    Austria 0.51
    Japan 0.31

Russia is, well, Russia. India has problems that we don't have. But look at all the rest. They range from 0.31 (Japan) to 1.68 (Canada). I'm sure Canada has a lot of hunters and people living in remote areas that need guns but their murder rate is far below the U.S. Using your family analogy why do you want your children to have a 3 times as great a chance to get murdered than in Canada or a 5 times greater chance than they would in the U.K. just so you and all the other gun worshipers can have your guns?

Perfectly. I will not only defend my own God given life, but I will also defend my loved ones, and my neighbors. What greater love has mortal man than he (be willing) to lay down his life for his friends (and neighbors).

And I obey the command of Christ in Luke 22:36 Then he said to them, “But now, whoever has a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet. Whoever has none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword."

If you are not willing to defend your own life, does that mean you will not defend your wife's life? Or you children's lives? Or your grand children's lives? Or your neighbor's lives? How is that love, to stand by and allow them to be tortured, raped, and murdered?

Yours is a very weak argument using an isolated proof-text against a clear command by Christ. In His entire ministry, Jesus always emphasized loving your neighbor and even your enemy./ He also called for avoiding war to the extent Christians have the influence to do so.

[Mat 22:36-40 KJV] 36 Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

"Jesus clearly taught that the world is a sinful and violent place. But he challenged his followers not to live in fear and trepidation: “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul” (Matt. 10.28). He also said: “I have told you all this so that you may find peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but be brave: I have conquered the world” (Jn. 16.33).

What Does the Bible Say About Violence?

What Does the Bible Say About Violence? - Bible Gateway Blog

So where would we turn in the Scriptures for ways to deal with violence? What does Jesus want us to do about violence? What ought to leap to our minds is the beatitudes, which includes this real-life challenge: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” What can we do about violence? It must begin with a serious commitment to the principle: “blessed are the peacemakers.”

We don’t need vigilantes, we need vigilance. Followers of Jesus are called to do more than passively waiting for the next person to draw his gun. Our Lord and Savior commands us to close the gap with people rejected by others. To connect with the wounded before they lash out and wound others. To bring down the level of tension and stress around us by living in shalom.

In his book, The Cost of Discipleship, Dietrich Bonhoeffer says: “The followers of Jesus have been called to peace. When he called them they found their peace, for he is their peace…. they are told that they must not only have peace but make it. And to that end they renounce all violence and tumult.”

John Stott, in his commentary on the Sermon on the Mount says, “Now peacemaking is a divine work. For peace means reconciliation, and God is the author of peace and of reconciliation.”

Guns are to protect us from the tyrannical govt. If you like gun control, move to Russia. They have it.

That is exactly my point. Why?

You didn't answer my question. Would you remove all the knives from your house, take them away from all your other children, because of the actions of one?

And let's get back to my point in the OP. The Dems lost the last election because they wrote off a demographic which at one time they owned. In his remarks, Mr. Biden looked to be politically tone deaf to that point. Yes, he was consistent in his position. But, did he really need to voice it?

The actions of one? Look at the numbers for Canada vs. the U.S. for 2012(latest data I could easily find but will find more recent data). The fact is we have a violent gun-obsessed society in the U.S. compared to other developed nations due to Republican bow-down to the NRA.

Presently, Canadian law classifies firearms into three categories: prohibited, restricted, and non-restricted. Prohibited firearms include military-grade assault weapons such as AK-47s and sawn-off rifles or shotguns. Handguns are generally classified as restricted weapons, while rifles and shotguns are usually non-restricted. The AR-15 rifles used by the San Bernardino suspects is classified as restricted.

According to a StatsCan report from 2012 – the most recent year available – the U.S. suffered a total of 8,813 murders involving the use of firearms that year. Canada, in the same year, recorded just 172 firearms-related homicides.

“When looking at firearm-related homicide rates in comparable countries, Canada’s rate is about seven times lower than that of the United States (3.5 per 100,000 population), although it is higher than several other peer countries.

Rape rate in USA is exponentially higher than Canada. How do you blame that on guns?

Joe lets whatever is on his mind come out his mouth. That's just Joe being Joe. Out of respect, I won't post links, but just Google "Joe Biden profanity."

And still, you won't directly answer my question.

I'm not saying "one," and you know it. I'm saying, why punish the millions because of the few? But you know that, which is why you won't answer the question, and are resorting to histrionics.

Cars still kill more people per year than guns; and can even be used as a weapon of mass destruction (multiple killings/injuries/damage at once) -- despite our continuing and best efforts to make them safer, both through design and legal policy; but you're not crying out against them. And you call yourself pro-life?
