Thank you for that link. I heard about that man some years ago when I was in seminary.

I tried that same method on my dad one time. He was a hard as nails and still is. But since that time he told how I had made the worst decision of my life by going to seminary and being a pastor. He even asked my sister one time if she was saved so as to ridicule me in front of her. Since that time my sister, her husband, her children and their spouses have come to Christ.

I have used them countless times to lead people to Christ (here in the U.S. and on the mission field in Kenya, Romania, and Hungry). Do they work? YES!

This past summer I went on a mission trip with my church. We used tracts and I know when people were home and we went thru them with people YES they worked. But when people wernt home or we just handed them to them I dont know if they worked or not.

Just be careful with the tracts. Go with Faith Prayer and Tract League, American Tract Society, Campus Crusade, etc. Some others have severe limitations.

Some are intentionally offensive (NOT designed for the Spirit to work in a heart, but to promote some agenda).

Some are cheap and turn off folks with shabby materials, workmanship.

Some are incorrect or stereotypical and embarassing to use when even the unsaved point this out.

Some are simplistic. Salvation is simple but not simplistic. It is NOT just believing, just faith, etc

    User beware. [IMG]

Tracts must work; the jehovah's Witnesses use them regularly, and even follow up. To be sure, Satan's army will always copy the best features of God's army.

If you pass them out randomly on a street corner, be sure to follow the recipient so you can pick up the litter. I never use a spoon to slice a steak. Always use the right tool in the right place and it will not return void.

    Cheers,

    Jim

By no means do I think they should replace people, but tracts have led people to the Lord.

"Faith, Prayer and Tract League" is now "The Tract League." The name was changed a few years ago.

I believe that tracts work. There's no doubt about it. However, I have concerns about some of the teachngs of Ray Comfort. His use of the 10 commandments in evangelism is not a New Testament teaching. The approach was not used by Christ or the Apostles.

For this reason (among others), I cannot endorse the views of "Hell's Best Kept Secret."

Adding to the Gospel is dangerous.

    Roscoe

P.S. I'd love to hear some other views about Ray Comfort. Perhaps a new thread would be more appropiate?

Thanks for sharing this link. It was a great nine minutes and I was blessed. Obviously your question "Tracts. Do They Work?" is rhetorical. They do work - Mr. Genor's story is proof of that. I agree with much of what Dr. Bob said about the use of tracts in his earlier posting on this thread. Time and eternity will reveal the worth of tract ministry, and Christians everywhere should be encouraged to use them.
