This brought to my memory of what someone told me one time. He stated that God saves, and not Jesus. Do you agree with this?

I agree. But one cannot be saved in a state of rejection of the Trinity. Ignorance and confusion is far different than outright rejection because outright rejection demands you understand it but reject it.

    Regarding me, this was posted...

Thats correct. The reason is because I am a full blown trinitarian, and have been since I was born again way back when.

Then missionaries condemn more people to hell than they save because people who have never heard of the Trinity but believe in God are "saved?"

You explain the Trinity to a person. if he says, "I don't understand" he is saved but if he says, "That's goofy" he goes to Hell?

To them, god would be the SAME Being, just taking on role of the father in OT, jesus in NT, Holy Spirit today...

Bible states that jesus was with God, is God, but NOT identical, not SAME person as the God that he was eternally with!

John thru the Greek grammar and construction made it quite explicit that jesus was forever God, yet was NOT God the father!

    What does God's Word say?

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

I don't believe so...the Tanakh is simply the canon of the OT Scriptures. You might be thinking of The Complete Jewish Bible edited by David H. Stern.

    Generally good thread.

I have a question from a modalist and have no answer, so maybe you all can help me.

If one takes a Trinitarian view, why could the Holy Spirit not come as long as Jesus was here?

The Holy Spirit has been on earth since Genesis 1:2 and will continue to Revelation 20.

He could not come in the sense of "another comforter" within the congregation of Christ as long as Jesus was fulfilling that role. When Jesus went back to heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit to take that particular job (see Acts 15:28):

    Acts 15:28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

The Holy Spirit simply took on another role that previously the Son had fulfilled.

yes, for he was to be their advocate/counseler, just as Jesus was with His merry men, the Holy Spirit would live in each one of His people after his ascension!
