Apologies, TC, I simply linked to a chapter in "Through the Looking Glass." I had no idea of the nature of the site, nor of Dodgson's paedophilia. I defended loving children & reading & telling them stories, as I do, as father & grandad.

I first heard of the Humpty Dumpty arguments from the theologian Dr J. Packer, as an illustration of the care needed in theological argument in the definition of terms. I think it's in common use in the UK as a warning.

I very rarely quote from other websites, apart from Scripture.

    Apologies again.

Yeah, once something is old enough to become public domain, it can pop up on all sorts of distasteful websites.

And I admit that I had never heard of any pedophilia allegations about Carroll either. Sad.

The ungodly will try to “uncover” any ugly. That is their nature.

I was never a great fan of the author or the story, and what WE might consider pedophilia in US courts were not the same standards of those that man’s days.

Do not photographers take pictures of naked babies and children even in our times?

In reading on line, there is a lot of supposing, but nothing really concrete other than he loved the oldest daughter. Again, not a crime.

If someone has some facts, post the link.

I hesitate to post a link to the pictures he took (he had a photography studio set up in his rooms at Oxford). They are pretty shocking. One is him kissing Alice Liddell's sister. Another was of Alice with full frontal nudity.

Alice's parents broke off any contact between Carroll and the family when Alice was 11. And when he died his family tore out the pages of his personal journal for the 4 or 5 years that he knew the Liddell family and had contact with the three sisters.
