Read the last several posts again -- Brother Jim said the Anglican Church is surely a NT church. I told him we were dealing with what qualified as a non-NT church and kidded him about being on the wrong list. So we were not putting Anglicans on the non-NT church list.

Is that as clear as mud, or what?

Because a church came out of Rome disqualifies them from being a NT church?

Reserving judgment pending research. I have attended a number of non-Baptist churches, spoken in them, sung in them, worshiped in them. This is not about how nice they are, how welcoming they are, etc. We're dealing with doctrinal questions here.

And we're not dealing in nonessentials, ini my opinion.

Am I allowed another sidenote amongst you friendly blokes and bird?

One church I had in Saskatchewan was in a small village that had three churches; Anglican, United and Baptist. The Anglican minister's wife came from my home Baptist Church; the United Church minister and I attended the same Bible College. The people were never sure who would be preaching at their service cos we filled in for each other for three months. It was quite amusing.

    Cheers,

    Jim

The Church of England is not a NT church..it come out of the Romish Church...believes i succession of the Bishops....sprinkles infants as a covenant promise.....and other faulty doctrines....in my not so humble opinion.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Do they also practice believers' immersion?

Not the only ones. As a general proposition, I hold that Baptists are NT churches. So are some churches of like faith and order who do not wear the name Baptist.

But if one holds that Baptists are the closest to the first-century Christians in doctrine and practice, then one cannot avoid holding that some groups which differ soteriologically are not.

IF an adult requests immersion it must be done on order of the bishop. It is not well advertised, but it is done.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Jim, are you distinguishing between the Church of England and the Anglican communion? Are you saying that the C of E is not a NT church, but the Anglicans are?

Just want to make sure I understand you correctly before I add to The List..

Ok, for example, I don't think a pastor and a deacon board but no eldership is biblical at all, yet that's the practice of many Baptist churches.

Believers' immersion is the practice of a local NT church.
