    Been hearing of this today:

Trump Wants His Kids to Have Top Security Clearance

WASHINGTON – Donald Trump wants his children to have access to America’s national security secrets, according to a report Monday.

The President-elect’s team asked the White House to give his family top secret security clearances to aid their father’s transition to the nation’s

Ivanka, Eric and Donald Trump Jr. as well as son-in-law Jared Kushner are on the president-elect’s transition team.

The security clearance would designate the kids as Trump’s national security advisors.

Nepotism regulations bar the family from having formal jobs in the White House.

Extending the family empire, I guess.

Or knows that he can't keep his mouth shut about anything and will blab national secrets to them lol.

As much as he likes to tweet, maybe we should all apply for top security clearance.

Keep in mind: Robert Kennedy, JFK's brother and AG, and Sargent Shriver his brother-in-law and first head of the Peace Corps.

Calling them kids is misleading at best and looks only to invoke emotional responses that are really undeserved. Very poor reporting.

Despite reports suggesting the contrary, a transition team official says Donald Trump did not request or begin paperwork to have his children gain top-level security clearance, according to a pool report.

The official told the pool of reporters Monday that it wasn't something he was expecting right now.

Three of the president-elect's children — Donald, Eric and Ivanka — as well as his son-in-law Jared Kushner, were named to Trump's "Presidential Transition Team Executive Committee," which includes high-profile advisers, donors and congressional lawmakers.

CBS News reported Monday that Trump had asked the White House for permission to give his family top security clearance, raising questions about possible conflicts of interest, considering his children's involvement in a business network the president-elect arranged and called a "blind trust."

Trump's children said in an interview with CBS's 60 Minutes that aired Sunday night that they will not hold any formal role their father's administration.

Looks like the nepotism law was put in place in 1967, after JFK's time in office.

I mean, before we get a head of steam up over the situation, let's keep history in mind. Though, as it has been pointed out there is a nepotism law in place. So, if the older offspring do have a place in Pops' administration it will be unpaid. Further, as he examines his options, Mr. Trump may find he needs to keep them out of Washington so they can run the family business in his absence.

This has been debunked. He did not ask for his kids to have clearance.

Not quite. Trump's transition team has requested clearance for Trump's Son-in-Law, Jared Kushner.

I'm by no means a Trump fan, but I think that Presidential appointments should be exempt from nepotism policies. If you want someone you can trust, sometimes a family member is the best person to help you.

Of course, I don't think people should be appointed if they are unqualified, but Trump's children have appropriate backgrounds for many appointments.

I do think, however, some significant distance needs to be between the family business and the nation's government. IMO, pick a side but don't try to do both.
