Oh, don't get me wrong, the topic was about Palin, not Biden, I don't think he's qualified to run in place.

I did not vote for either nor would I ever but the exaggerated criticisms are in poor taste.

The 'Africa' story is widely reported over here in the newspapers - not just the tabloids but the broadsheets too, so it is likely to be true. Also reported is the story that Palin couldn't name the three NAFTA members.

I'm on record as having stated here that Palin scared the living daylights out of me and this news does not disabuse me of that opinion.

BTW has anyone seen this interactive website? Hilarious!

And why is that? Did news sources on your side of the pond have a source unlike here? Or does this just fit your fancy?

The fact that it's been reported in both centre-right and centre-left (by our standards; they're probably all pinko-liberal-socialist by yours) papers * lends credence to it

*Although, oddly, not The Times, owned by the Murdoch Clan, the same people who own Fox.

Matt, repeated reporting does not make something factual. How about specifics? Names, dates, places... the who, what, where, when of basic news gathering. This is water cooler gossip and no more.

The subject of the gossip makes it interesting - gives it some legs as they like to say in the world of media - but it doesn't make it true just because it has been told and retold.

I'm sure there are pastors on BB that have been at the receiving end of gossip and rumors. Pastor Joe couldn't go see Mrs. Gripesalot on Tuesday. Mrs. Gripesalot tells Mr. Blabbermouth that Pastor Joe didn't come on Tuesday. Mr. Blabbermouth thinks the facts lack drama so he tell Miss Busybody that Pastor Joe would not visit with Mrs. Gripesalot. Miss Busybody, thinking the embellished story still lacks drama, adds her two cents citing an unnamed person who heard that Pastor Joe has deep-rooted issues with Mrs. Gripesalot.... You see where this is going?

I'm not denying that it is possible that Gov. Palin didn't know that Africa was a continent. I think it unlikely, but that is a personal opinion based on my overall impression of her as presented in the very public forum of the worldwide media.

I'm more concerned with a world view that flourishes in a place where a person is so openly diminished and demeaned. It doesn't matter if it is Gov. Palin or Pastor Joe. It's like watching a house burn to the ground. We know people and property is being destroyed but we can't seem to avert our eyes. Are we really that selfish?

At the risk of mixing my metaphors.... it looks like a grown-up version of "My father can beat up your father."

I thought I had responded earlier on this topic but can't find anything.
A few points need to be made.

First: the McCain campaign was disfunctional from the start and it did not get better with time. He made a mistake supporting the bailout bill. This after his earlier remark that the economy was not his strong suite. He refused to discuss Obama's associations other than the one with the terrorist. Jeremiah Wright was off limits and he criticized candidates who used Wright's pulpit hate speech. He finally got around to naming Obama as a socialist after the Joe the Plumber incident.

Second: I saw the Carl Cameron report on Bill O'Reilly, who by the way takes great pride in being a moderate independent, not a conservative. I have respect for Cameron but we must remember that his information came from unnamed sources.

Third: Undoubtedly the McCain Staff knew they had screwed up and in order to cover their *** they had to blame someone, particularly since they want to work for somebody, anybody, the next election cycle. Who better than Governor Palin who they did not want in the first place, or should I say in the VP slot. She was not a beltway elite.

Fourth: Governor Palin was a breath of fresh air in the McCain campaign. She mobilized part of the conservative base, unfortunately not enough. She is an exciting speaker and consistently drew bigger crowds than McCain. At The Villages in Florida she drew a crowd of 60,000 out of a population of 70,000.

Fifth: The unnamed complainers on the McCain camp should have been a little more discerning about the things that Governor Palin did not know. To say that she did not know Africa was a continent and who was included in NAFTA is laughable. I realize that geography is largely ignored in school these days but I am sure the Governor has seen a map.

Sixth: Governor Palin was mishandled after the convention, She was interviewed by Charlie and Katie, both leftists. I don't watch the democrat propaganda channels so I only saw snippets on Fox News. She was interviewed on Fox by Hannity, who is obviously favorably biased, and by Greta, who is not. Greta was obviously impressed by Governor Palin and interviewed her again. On her show last night she strongly defended Governor Palin against the obviously unfair and sexist attacks against her. Greta does this even though she disagrees with Governor Palin on certain issues. That is what journalism is supposed to be about.

Finally: The 2012 race has already begun and the attacks on Governor Palin will continue. The leftists are afraid she will be able to unite the conservatives in 2012, especially after a failed Obama reign. My belief is that the Obama administration will do all it can to screw up things in Alaska just to make Governor Palin look bad. But they will fail. In time the women in this country may realize that the Obama campaign and the leftist media led a sexist attack on both Governor Palin and Senator Clinton.

In closing this long post may I just say that Obama said he had visited 57 states and had one to go. Smart, real Smart.

After the trouncing McCain took in this election, it would seem he never had a chance regardless of his VP pick.

What does it matter what Palin knows or doesn't know. She lost the election; she will never be president or vice president regardless. Her fifteen minutes of fame are over. She will recede back to the wilderness of Alaska and never be heard of again in American national politics again. She has gone the way of Dan Quayle

Same story, no named sources, conjecture on how folks supposedly feel.....

At least the "Obama Birth Certificate" crowd has a named federal judge on their side. This is just plain old gossip.

Your wrong my friend, she will see a book deal next, with a very big advance payment for the story.

She will remain in politics and will quite possibly see another bid at VP.

Where is McCain? Why is he letting her be the scapegoat... when the truth be told it is because of HIM he didn't win... If it wasn't for her, the conservatives wouldn't have shown up at all!

She was his only hope of winning.. and now, he is too weak to come forward and stand up for her... Sounds like a moderate to me.
