I see that Robert Schullers Crystal Cathedral is gone from the slippery slope to a free fall. Senior Pastor Robert Schuller Jr. has been relieved of his post and sixty five million ($65,000.000) in property up for sale to satisfy indebtness. Also there is talk of D Jas Kennedy (Coral Ridge) having similar problems. There have been other instances of crumbling empires when the programs have been constructed around a person; Example Oral Roberts.
On the other hand Thomas Roads Babtist Church has been putting up some big numbers since the death of Dr. Falwell. What kind of change is responsible for this?

I'm not truly familiar with any of these other than name recognition, BUT one thing I do know - no, nada, zip, churches belong to ANY individual regardless of his intellect, popularity, or mass appeal!!

They all belong to God, and unless He is the one to run the body, the loss of the "star" dooms the church!!!

With Falwel's church, could it be that the son is preaching the gospel that keeps them alive?

I remember a preacher in Ohio who even started a girdle factory to finance the church, but it too failed..forget his name now.

Swaggert keeps his church going wiht a jazzed up piano and tears..........

Jimmy boy bought a campground, but eventually his worldly ways cost his "ministry"....Wife didn't help either with makeup to kill, jewellery and ,,oh,,,,,her tears.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Any church preaching the gospel is expected to grow, in scripture they grew by 3000 in one day.
    So I think your right.

Falwell's church does seem to be thriving. However, that ministry is probably not so dependent on the money they raise from TV since Falwell's life insurance policy made Liberty University debt free.

Schuler's and Kennedy's ministries are more TV dependent and are suffering. Also, Falwell had a plan of succession in mind for many years and groomed his sons to take his place. Kennedy seems to have had no succession plan and Schuler had one but fell out with his son and removed him from the pastorate.
