    It's not so common (even rare since socialist party took the power here) that I find the government had a real good idea.

    Allover the country, for energy economy purposes, " For shops, commercial centres, and museums, “the lighting of windows must be switched off by 1 am, or one hour after [everyone has left], whichever happens last.” "

    I always found so stupid to have skyscrapers empty offices left with lights on everywhere .... and those neons still lit at 4 AM ... for who ?

    It's a sensible idea. I would rather it be carried out on a voluntary basis than via a new law. The fine for leaving the lights on is about $975. How is the French government going to catch offenders? How much wasted effort and money will be spent on catching owners of offices and stores that leave the lights on?
