which view, that Second Death is eternal state, or that Jesus suffered in our stead the due penalty for our sins, taking the wrath of God due to us?

God turns His back so to speak upon those in lake of Fire forever, and Jesus experienced that as our sin bearer!

Jesus the righteousness One became sin bearer for us, and as such, he who knew no sin of his own became the sin offering to God, to propitiate and appease His wrath towards sinners, and he had to taste physical death and experience that judgement an separation all of us should have!

Some just cannot seem to get that on that Cross, there was something that happened that made God take on all our sins and that due to that, God the Father to be Holy had to treat Him as sin personified!

Did not John Calvin hold that the part of "Jesus ascending into Hell"of the Creed really meant that he experience what lost sinners will in hell as being sin bearer and under wrath/judgement of God?

His Son assumed on the iniquity of us all at that time, so as sin bearer, was seen as sin personified!

Jesus was "judged" for those sins, and took the very wrath of God due to us!

Absolutely, That's what Scripture says.We can pinpoint the Scriptures that explicitly say that. 1 Peter 3:18. He in no way became "unrighteous"--He did not become sinful man at any time.

    Context is important.

Habakkuk is saying God cannot look on sin and not do anything about it. He's not saying He cannot look on people who are sinning--He does that all the time. Really, quoting Habakkuk to say God the Father turned away from Jesus is ridiculous.

It's heresy to say Christ took on second death.

Revelation 14:10, ". . . shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: . . ."

Hab 1:13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?

This verse does not support that Christ was sin. Christ was never sin but He took sin and hung it on the cross with him to pay for the sins of the world.. The Bible never says Christ was made sin.

He became a sin *Offering*--That's what Paul is saying here and that is how his readers would have understood it in light of the previous chapters and verses.
