U Hires New Head Coach

    University of Miami announced today the hiring of Randy Shannon to Head Football Coach. Shannon was the Defensive Coordinator at the U for the past six years.

    Shannon played for the Canes in the 80's & is supposed to be a great recruiter. On a side note, he's only the 6th African American head coach in Division One.

    It seems that the #1 candidate was Schiano at Rutgers. After he turned down the job, the Canes then looked internally. [Note -- look for Schiano to take Joe Pa's job in a few years.]
