    UNITED NATIONS (AP) _ A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.

    Acid Rain - similar panic in the 70's & 80's

    Our fresh water resources were going to be destroyed with all living things eaten up.
    Our forests were to be denuded.
    Guess what - It didn't happen.

    Whew! That was a close call.

    Seems some ended up switching to the Y2K millennium bug scare when that didn’t materialize.
