    What's your point?

The word "Jehovah" occurs over 3,000 times in the NWT.

It still is not the real name of God, no matter how many times they have it in print though!

    So?

In your post #52 you gave info about how many times both words appear in four antiquated, seldom-used translations.

I used three better known and more often used versions. The versions I quoted did not use the name Jehovah at all. Yet Yahweh was used instead.

Uh, none of them are antiquated. All are 20th century versions except the RV which was first published in 1881.

My response was to Yeshua1 who claimed:
The point being that "Jehovah" was used in not only the NWT but in several non-JW versions.

Irrelevant to the discussion. You just gotta learn to pay attention!

I am speaking as someone who is tired of meaningless, grammarless, senseless, responses which have absolutely nothing to do with the discussion at hand.

I will be the first to admit my lack of patience (usually with foolishness) is my besetting sin. (As most people on the Baptist Board already know.)

I do not suffer fools gladly.
    I do not celebrate stupidity.
I do not consider ignorance to be a virtue.

Mea culpa. Mea culpa. Mea maxima culpa.

Poor puppy. Do you need a safe space? -) You know what they say: "If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen."

I'm afraid your authority here as a mod doesn't extend as far as you would like.

You have the option of using the ignore feature. Of course I think using it is a joke.

The English in all four is dated i.e. antiquated language.

You must have a preference for obscure and irrelevant versions. But that's okay. To each their own.

"I think"implying what? Perhaps, I am not sure...but I am throwing it out there to aggravate.

Here is what I know Rippon, that Tom has a lot of years under his belt and he can admit his short comings. I pray for him to overcome these shortcomings in order to be a better witness.

You still fail to see the point. Even after it was explained to you, you still fail to see the point. That is pretty sad. :(

I can't stand the heat. Heat exacerbates my MS. I don't go out much during the summer. The only time I leave the house is on Sunday for church and on Tuesday for choir practice.

I have not exercised by authority as an Admin.

    No, I don't.

LOL! ROFLOL! Yes, the English language has changed so much since 2009 that the English of the EMTV is antiquated! 8 whole years! Heavens! LOL! ROFLOL!

Whenever I see the above I picture someone about to vomit.
Hey, the ESV came out in the 21st century and yet largely used antiquated language. The particular year is irrelevant, what matters is the sort of language used.

Seems as if this thread has gotten entirely away from the discussion of door-to-door visits by JWs & other cult members.

So, lemme summarize my view on those visits by saying I view them as witnessing opportunities the HOLY SPIRIT mighta provided to try to lead them to Jesus. (and try me as well.)

I think that the Esv uses current English.
