The above edited quote presents a well studied view of our passage. However that thread is now over 12 pages and perhaps has wandered a tad.

The first question to ask is "who" was "foreknown?" The answer (from verse 28) is "those who are called according to His purpose. Therefore when God formulated His Redemption Plan, its purpose including "calling" foreknown people to be predestined, called, justified and glorified. And therefore the second "calling" refers to our ministry as ambassadors of Christ, not our initial calling into the kingdom.

Therefore the passage framework can be viewed as:

Those called into the kingdom (transferred into Christ spiritually) according to God's redemption plan are:
    1) Foreknown corporately as those God's Redeemer would redeem.
    2) Those placed in Christ are then predestined to be conformed to the image of Christ.
    3) Called to our ministry as ambassadors of Christ
    4) Justified by the washing of regeneration (the circumcision of Christ).
    5) Glorified spiritually as a sibling of Christ.

And an alternate view can understand that the redemption plan included
    1) Corporately foreknowing Christ would redeem believers whose faith is credited as righteousness.
    2) The plan includes conforming those placed in Christ to the image of Christ so Christ would be the first of many siblings.
    3) The plan is to call (redeem, transfer into Christ) those of God's choosing on the basis of faith which is according to His purpose.
    4) Those placed in Christ are justified by the washing of regeneration, the circumcision of Christ.
    5) Those placed in Christ are spiritually glorified as siblings of Christ.
    4)

Lets march through the passage one word or phrase at a time:

    1) Yet we are aware
    2) that to the ones loving God
    3) all is working together for good
    4) to the ones being called
    5) according to purpose.
    6) that whom God had planned for
    7) He designated beforehand to be conformed to the image of His Son
    8) resulting in Him becoming
    9) the firstborn of many siblings.
