Volkswagen commercials w/Brooke Shields

I fail to see where the sin is in the commercial

Granted---the commercials are about as brilliant as Hollywood can get---it didn't provoke me to go out and buy a VW(I prefer a Nissan)

If I were the producer----the script would have been different---way different

You know what, so far this is still a free country, and I still have the right to voice my opinion.

 

This is true and your opinion of the commercial is as mine-----I thought the commercials were stupid----it didn't "exactly" spell out that the couple buying the car were actually married---they were just having a baby--so they needed a car------I wouldn't give you two cents for the best actor Hollywood has

Just prior to the return of the Lord Jesus for His Chuirch----Jesus said those days will be "As the days of Noah"--------DonnA---really and truly would you say we are living in those days???

 

I don't like Brook Shields. Her work, for the most part, is pure trash. But, these commercials are nothing but humor. My goodness, who knew that a 60's model VW Bug (Herbie's uncle I bet) could talk with a german accent? It doesn't teach kids that their parents don't love them. Come on and lighten up. Donna, you have your shoes tied a little too tight. Loosen them up a bit and you will breath easier and your sense of humor will return. Get you some of those shoe inserts and start "gellin."

 

Spot-on. Moreover, the "parents" within the commercials make a point to disagree with her. Children are not stupid. I highly, highly, highly doubt that any child is going to think their parents don't love them because they bought a VW. Any child smart enough to make that connection would be smart enough to get the joke.

 

I'm not questioning your lack of respect for Ms. Shields at any age, but if she was only 12 when this movie was made, wouldn't her parent(s)/legal guardian have to approve of something like this?

I know nothing about Ms Shields' parents nor have I ever had any children myself, but aren't there laws against child porn/sexual abuse? If allowing one's 12YO daughter to appear fully naked in a movie isn't consenting to kiddy porn, then what is it?

 

Amen blackbird! And last night was just another example of that also. It is so tempting to get so upset over so many things..................and yes, sin really upsets me. (trust me Donna, I understand your disgust) I know that I have to trust the Lord, and that He said we would be seeing these things happen..................and I have to cling so tightly to the Lord and His word!

The purpose of a commercial is to get our attention... and to notice the product...

Well, guess I gotta get rid of my walkman, vcr, dvds, and a ton of other stuff cuz it is related to Japan, and remember the Alamo, get rid of them cars, tvs and washers made south of the boarder.

As to Brooke, I have not watched her movies, nor do I know the content within - don't watch that sort of rated movies - wondering how all you folks know what that content is like - did you watch her movies and give her some royalites :laugh:

The dumbest thing about these commercials is that they are promoting german engineering but in fact they are based on the Chrysler Town and County, which is made right here in North America
I believe they are actually assembled in Canada, just across the river from Detriot.

 

The women in the commercials protest Brooke's assertion that they're having a baby to get a car. So, your contention that they're having babies to get a car is patently false. Besides, do you believe everything in a commercial is real? Did you believe it when the commercial showed Kobe Bryant jumping over the moving car? (He didn't. It was a trick.) Did you believe it when they showed a guy who had his head shrunk by a witch doctor? (Didn't happen either.)

The commercials are clearly saying that German engineering is so awesome that people will do anything, even have a baby, to get their hands on the van. It's hyperbole. Nothing more, nothing less.

 

Another boycott is necessary!
While your at it boycott my coffee shop so I can get in and out faster, and the movies would be nice, no more long lines.
Also boycott the outer beltline in Raleigh between 7 and 8 so I can get to work faster.
