Yes. Thanks for asking. Hopefully others will read the information and do likewise.

After we get good at boycotts, and we force everyone in the world to conform to our ideals, maybe we can tell them about Jesus. Maybe we can tell them the greatest love story ever told. Maybe we should do that first. Then we may not have to force them to do things our way.

If we boycotted every company that could be tied to evil in some way, we would have nowhere left to shop, nothing left to buy, and not a person changed by our actions anyway.

You know, the love of money is the root of all evil. Companies are not in business to print paychecks, they are in business to make money. (As much as they possibly can)

You're right, Blammo. Doing nothing has worked very well so far...

Did I say do nothing? Is that what you think I was suggesting?

Webdog is right. You did not even get the message of my post, you are definately a troll.

Again...if there is a problem, do something.

I'm not telling anyone what to do. But if you fight for a cause you place value in that cause more then what you loss as you fight for it. And you will always lose sometning in a cause.

And if you take a stand for THIS cause, you will loss money by not shopping at Wal-Mart, and people may call you names. Is it worth the pain you will go though? Its up to you.

If money and time, have a greater value to you, do not boycott...its that simple

Perhaps the problem is in the saying and not in the reading. That is exactly what you were saying: boycotting doesn't help, nothing helps, jus' say "Jesus" and wait for the Rapture...

And webdog wouldn't know a valid argument if it tapped him/her on the shoulder.

The investor class, who are the people making corporate decisions, isn't affected by boycott. Companies generally take other cost cutting measures, especially on items like employee salaries and benefits, before they dig into the bottom line. The profit dividend always gets paid, the minimum wage workers get laid off first.

A boycott by Christians seems to me to be getting the cart before the horse. Shouldn't we be working to build relationships that give us opportunities to share the gospel before we start expecting lost people to conform to our doctrine or practice and then punish them for not doing that?

I will agree up to a point.

Behaviorally speaking, "sin" is irrelevant to a nonbeliever. Thus boycotting because gay persons get money from Wal-Mart is, in my mind, a nonstarter.

{b}However,[/b] justice is relevant to all individuals and communities, no matter the faith basis (or lack thereof). Thus boycotts which address issues of social justice are vital.

The PC(USA) boycotted Taco Bell to get migrant pickers another penny a pound for tomatos. They were successful in that venture.

TP, doesn't this language seem slightly inflammatory to you? It's true you've been called a troll by some, but you are responding in kind of a strong way. Lighten up... no one is saying that this is a non-issue.

I was in Wal-marts twice today. I did see a couple of people that I thought had a little "sugar" in their walk.:)

That's what you would see at Target where I live. I have a personal boycott of Target in effect.

You are the one who refuses to debate, and stoops to name calling. *self edit*

Point taken. Someone suggesting that slavery is better than homosexuality, then calling me a "troll" makes my ears bleed. Figuratively, of course. Thanks for the course correction.

You know full well the reasons why I refused to carry the debate further. Rather than risking being banned for continually calling me a "troll," you're welcome to take your hissy fit to PM.

For the record, by the way, my father passed away in 2004, so your remarks are even stupider than you imagined.

I apologize about mentioning your father, I didn't know. It was done tongue in cheek.

I will not apologize about commenting on the maturity level and blatant hostility you have shown toward me. If calling someone who acts like a troll a troll is enough to be banned, there would be a lot less people here. You are an angry, bitter person, and it's sad to see that characteristic in someone who professes Christ as their saviour.

I was going to boycott my butcher shop one time. I found out that the company that cleans his windows buys gasoline from a refinery that actually employs a gay person. :D :tongue3:
